Another mega tour cancelled. Must be frustrating to be a top 40 fan teehee

Well, he cancelled the tour because he’s going through mental health issues. I don’t know why anyone would be frustrated with him cancelling the tour because of that.

Weird comment. Hopefully you didn't know the context of the cancellation.

  7. Who said anything about being frustrated at the artist?
The comment is accurate and fine.

Compassion for the context is totally irrelevant to disappointment/frustration over missing an event of considerable scale and investment (beyond just monetary) for a lot of people.

I think being frustrated because an artist is going through mental health issues and had to cancel shows is...a bit weird. Sure, it may suck for the people traveling who had flights and hotels booked, I get that, but an artists mental health comes before everything else and I think being understanding>being frustrated.

I think the gleeful "teehee" is the bizarre part, the rest would be fine by itself, because, yeah, the touring industry is going through weird changes right now.

  10. Pretty big stretch for judging a comment that was clearly about the pattern of big tours folding. I don't think it really makes sense to expect some kind of Compassion Tax before someone comments on something tangentially related.

What other big tours have folded recently? (Not denying, just curious)

This feels like the first big tour to cancel in a while.

  12. Oh I have no idea, I'm just reading the comment haha

I don't think many other big pop tours have cancelled honestly, other than the Adele residency which was just rescheduled

Yeah this Billboard list only claims to cover Covid-related cancellations and it does paint a picture of increased cancellations, but not really a flood of bad news for the (current) Top 40 crowd. Interesting seeing some of these either way though -- I'd forgotten about a lot of them.

Yeah the teehee is what throws that comment off for sure

People are being really weird about the tour being cancelled though. Lots of people accusing him of lying and that it was really ticket sales or saying stuff about how he needs to just come out already. Just strange vibes all around the cancellation.

Houston show barely had any tickets available so can’t say much for other cities but it sold well here

Clearly with the 4 tickets for 80 deal from LiveNation running for two weeks.. It's a case by case basis but I think a lot of shows are underwhelming in sales.. I mean the economy isn't the best, there's a million bands touring, ticket prices for some of these shows are probably too high yadda yadda

Most concerts aren't that expensive. The premium acts/events are which is what is driving all the discourse about concert tickets being over-priced.

I wish that were true but the reality is most shows are at minimum $20 and usually $30+ and that’s not terrible on it’s own, but if you go to multiple shows a month it adds up very quickly.
