The Ferrari looks excellent today

 

Hoping Carlos and Ferrari do well is just pure torture.

 

Most likely indycar, but McLaren made sure to mention that the entire lineup will be determined later. Palou also has enough superlicense points already too.

lots of drama with this too. Chip Ganassi Racing earlier today announced they picked up his option and used an apparently fake quote from Palou lmao

 

I remember like a month or two ago rumors started coming out that Palou would be driving for McLaren and I refused to believe it. Palou seemed set for life at CGR, but if F1 is where he really wants to be then this is the best route for him

 

There will be a nascar race through the streets of downtown Chicago next July 1st and 2nd

Ferrari is a fucking joke.

 

Pitting Sainz there is one of the most confusing decisions I’ve ever seen?

 

They weren't confident that the medium tyres were going to get to the end. I don't know if anyone else did a longer stint than Carlos?

He got well and truly Ferrari'd this weekend; looked fastest in all the sessions, absolute rocket on race day. Ferrari failures give him a back row start, a 5 second time penalty and a questionable bit of strategy to finish off as well.

It's very hard to see Charles coming back now. Throwing away a win from what looked like a decently comfortable position is a huge mistake.

 

Ferrari would have to be perfect the rest of the season (lol) and RB would have to slip up a few times. It’s very easily Max winning it again this year. Ferrari are a joke.

 

So this whole story keeps escalating

 

I would MUCH prefer they stick with sportscar racing (which is obviously more exciting to watch), but alas, the giant marketing pull of F1 is too hard to ignore

Would be cool to see him move to one of the big LeMans programs coming in the next few years, such as Ferrari

 

Kind of assumed it would be coming, as he's seemed pretty checked out for a while. Still sad to see him go though, as he seems one of the better characters around the paddock. I think he might be the first driver whose career I've watched from start to finish (not including people who were dumped for being crap).

I think Alonso and Kimi and Alonso are the earliest drivers I remember watching the start of their careers. I remember Alonso driving for Minardi and getting fantastic results for such a shit car (which is probably why Renault selected him for a drive). My family had JUST got satellite TV for the first time and I was ecstatic that I could finally watch F1 (on Speedvision channel at the time)

 

I got interested when there was the massive UK media interest in Hamilton joining the sport, so I started paying attention in 2007 (Seb's first year at Torro Rosso). A year later the BBC took it back from shitty ITV and I watched every race for a few years after that. Still mostly do.

I guess that technically means I saw Grosjean and Sutil's entire careers as well, but I don't think either chose to stop.

 

I’m going to miss Seb so much

 

Weirdly I’ve been watching since 1998 when I was 5. I followed it mildly until about 2004 when I got REALLY into it and loved Kimi and Alonso, and then Hamilton when he came in.

I remember Vettel winning his titles, but I fell off watching so much between 2011-2014, missing many of his titles and the start of the Merc domination era. I’d watch maybe one race a month, two if one was banger, but i’d always follow the results.

Weirdly I met Seb at an old job at the Nissan tech centre near Milton Keynes, and I went from not liking him due to his domination to thinking he was so nice. He spoke to me and let me hold the trophy. He was a genuinely lovely guy. This has continued when I have met him ever since, something that has happened pretty regularly in the last few months.

He really is the nicest guy in the sport and his influence, ethics and personality will be hugely missed.
