Sunday's aren't the same without it. It was pretty much the only live football I remember watching regularly.

I also remember when my local channel used to show the Ipswich v Norwich games, including the amazing Gunn miss-kick. Such a simpler time.

 

i was convinced until like last year he was saying GOAL LAZIO in the intro.

Can I say how great it is that you went for a team that isn't Utd, Arsenal, City, Chelsea or Liverpool. Seems a lot of American fans do but I love seeing less traditionally glamorous teams gaining new fans across the pond.

Supporting Everton will be fun, and certainly not boring. Plus, with this new owner, they possibly might have the financial power to beat anyone bar those already mentioned.

 

Just figured I'd go ahead and make this post while it's all fresh and new. All of you are my buds, and for the most part we all get along 98% of the time. In this moderator position, if I have to warn you or anything, it's because I really like what @Jason Tate is trying to do on this site in creating a better atmosphere. I wanna direct y'all to the post that gives me my guidelines for if I do have to do anything (we all know what sort of things happen when sports get emotional), but it's never going to be a personal thing.

I'd also like to say, if you ever have a problem with me (and don't wanna just message me about it), the other sports mods are @Broken Parachute who all of you know and @Chris Yates who is a pretty legit guy himself (Go Vols!).

The only language completely off the table is sexist, racist, and homophobic. Because we had issues with this on AP, just go ahead and remove b*tch (my fellow Americans) and c*nt (you Euro lads) from your vocabularies. They are instant warning points.

Alright, let's keep the bantz fun! Most of us have known each other a long time, but hopefully we can convert more and more people to the beautiful game! Euro 2012 is what got me into this group, and I think Euro 2016/Copa 2016 is a good chance to get some more people in here. If someone wants to make a ballin' OP, I'll insert it when it's ready (and I've edited it because English Major).

 

Off the top of my head: Dani (I'll shoot her a text), Miles (appeared out of nowhere on the last day of AP), Mark (not sure he's ever coming back, though)... Brennan (I see him on Facebook all the time, but never on AP recently)? Matt (RSL fan, I know he's running the RSL sub-reddit)?

Question for @Garrett L. @Broken Parachute @Jason Tate even. How will this thread work with the "seasons" thing Jason mentioned in the mod post? Do we go euro centric? Do we keep this thread for the Euros/Copa? Do we add them to the title?

 

I think it's kinda up to when a new one is required. I'm prone to go August (since all calendars except MLS basically adhere to that one) being the new year, and it including all tournaments. Adding tournaments to the title is a good idea, though!

 

Just to chime in, I don't see the need to treat this thread under the same "seasonal" condition and delete it periodically. This thread has always discussed the entire world of soccer, and that discussion is year-round with the leagues being set up differently. I'd say stick with the thread for simplicity, and delete it at 30k posts. Changing the name to add stuff is totally your guys decision and that's a good idea.

Leave the changing of threads to the individual league threads that are dormant for six months at a time.

Only thing I'd suggest would be a World Cup megathread when they role around given the size and interest in that tournament. Other international competitions will be good in here.

Yeah, WC needs its own thread. Any big event that will draw enough non-regular posters should gets its own thread.

 

Absolutely my thought as well.

 

I don't hang in here (you'll see me when Atlanta Utd starts play next year), but I think whatever you guys decide will be good. And Garrett will see its in good order.
