The stadium was definitely too big a venue to book for them, but wow if they're able to downgrade to Radius with still tickets left to sell, they must be struggling to move tickets in Chicago.

booking a stadium was ballsy but definitely ill-advised

I think the tour would be selling even better if all the shit with DGD had never happened and they were still on but getting that many people out to a soccer stadium in the burbs was a tough sell yeah. w/e, they'll sell out Radius for sure

I definitely feel like DGD would have brought a ton of their own fanbase to this tour and it hurt to drop them, but that makes the decision even more admirable. Alkaline Trio is a great replacement on short notice and I’m very happy to see both bands. They are playing a 7K capacity venue here on a week night and I’ll be shocked if it’s half full.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Man, I love both Coheed and Trio and really want to see them, but fuck do I hate outdoor shows. Especially when it's going to be batshit hot out.

Album is neck and neck with PUP and Cold Years for AOTY. So very good from front to back.

Yeah this is working it's way up further and further on my AOTY list. Picking up my copy on vinyl this Thursday.

We reach for the longest shadow

They killed it last night. New songs sounded great, and some of the older highlights were Ghost (they jammed this one full electric for a couple minutes, was really awesome), Everything Evil, and obviously IKS. Crowd could've been a little more lively, but the new stuff went over well for the most part. The production value this time around is unreal, really brings a lot to the performance.

Is Alkaline Trio seriously playing an hour-long set on this tour?

They sure are. They are not my cup of tea, but their fans seemed to enjoy them, and they seemed really gracious to Coheed for the opportunity to play. Probably not a convo for this thread, but it just made me mad at Tilian for ruining their opportunity for such a cool tour. I kept thinking, "This was supposed to be DGD" during Alk3's set.

Just gonna catch the next tour then. Don’t care for Alkaline Trio and don’t like Matt Skiba to pay the ticket price just to come late for Coheed

It's worth the price for Coheed alone, but I hear you.

Also, I bought the coffee. Can't wait to try it out soon.

I know and I really do want to see Coheed again, but for the price on a Wednesday night when I have work the next morning at 7 is just tough to swing. I’d bite the bullet for a better lineup

I saw them after Vaxis 1 in 2018 came out, and they opened with Dark Sentencer. I'm not seeing them this round, but It's disappointing to see them not open with their new stuff(Beautiful Loser) like they mostly always have on their tour after the new album came out.

Yeah it's almost like we had two starts. In story terms, Prologue/TDS/Gutter to open felt like a "Last time on Vaxis..." before going into Embers of Fire/Beautiful Losers. I was cool with it, TDS absolutely goes off to open the show.

    Coffee is great btw.

    TDS would be incredible opener.

BTW Sentencer is still a great opener. Good thought on the "last time on Vaxis" idea.

(I would prob have moved Sentencer to the encore opener)
