I thought Cormier meant seeing the actual Undertaker entrance in person at a past WWE show was the greatest all time.

Man that card was crazy. Looking at the rankings, Volk has quietly run out of contenders. Unless Cejudo comes back to try for another belt or if they toss out a random gimmie title shot to someone like Arnold Allen, I don’t know who even fights him next.

Also glad Strickland decided to stand right in front of Pereira lol. This grudge match with Izzy is about the only excitement left at Middleweight when it comes to the title picture.

I think Yair is next if he can beat Ortega. After that you have Allen and Emmet would Volk hasn’t fought either. Even further down the like are Mitchell/Evolev. There’s definitely still some contenders for him to face. Cejudo would be a cool fight as well. I don’t think going to 155 is advisable unless he’s facing people like Chandler/Gaethje.

Super impressive performances from Volk and Pereira. Overall, a card that had so much potential wound up feeling quite flat for one I thought had card of the year potential.

Pereira really stole the show and seeing Strickland go down arms flailing like he’s on a roller coaster was excellent.

My point is more that there’s no obvious guy right now who seems like a legitimate threat and there’s no standout candidate. He’s in a lull unless someone really makes a statement somehow.

You either have to give it to Emmett who is on a five fight win streak but arguably should have lost to Kattar, Yair who’s only fought once a year (0 times in 2020) and coming off of a loss to Holloway going into his next fight, or reach further down to give a title shot to someone ranked 6 or 9. There are more people to fight, sure, but right now it feels more like busy work rather than giving him legitimate threats.

Honestly I feel like Sean has little to lose there. As long as he’s paid appropriately for a fight of that size at least. If you lose- oh well it was to the Olympic gold metalist double champ etc I’ll come back stronger learning lessons big exposure yadda yadda… And obviously if he wins that’s massive.

  17. I’m not sure where he goes after the Pedro fight. He lost round one on the judges scorecards and Pedro clearly wasn’t going to stop spamming leg kicks.

Font may be a good next choice for him. Or Frankie if the UFC insists on giving him a highlight over a former champ that’s extremely washed.

I do not think Sean looked like he was getting worked from those leg kicks. He had quite a few good checks on them, ones that drew real responses from Pedro. Happy to see them run it back though.

  20. He just got that new deal that makes him one of the highest paid people in the division

Go put it to use against Henry or Yan so everyone can watch you get destroyed

Theres plenty of good fights for O'Malley, any bantamweight from 5-10. I like to see Font or Yadong but Cruz and Edgar are good options too, no way he takes on Dvalishvili whom im guessing is looking for a title shot soon.

Low key interesting card that I probably won't watch tomorrow haha.

Will be interesting to see if Yair can get over the hump.

  23. Yan/Cejudo is the rumored co-main for that card
