  2. idk, a bluecheck saying "if dems did x, they'd find a way to villainize it" sure is peak "Ok, And...?" Twitter.

As if the Dems' long-term strategies haven't already proven to be trash, the GOP recognizing that they're leaving immigrant conservative votes on the table basically takes the Dems' demographic-driven vision for the future and cuts it off at the knees.

Good luck on both of those items.

I am waiting on my promotion to finally go through. I was told it was approved and coming at the end of the first quarter and then it become hopefully by the end of the second. We are now in the third quarter and still nothing. Contemplating starting to look around at jobs but I like my direct management a ton so I go back and forth on leaving. I had a really shitty manager at my last job so I really value having a good management team but I know I could make more money elsewhere.

I hate my new position at my job but the pay raise was too good. Gonna stick around a bit longer then start looking I think.

I get built in raises every year but they’re like 1-2% and only on the local portion of my salary lol

I'm nine months into a job and looking already. This place is so disorganized. For a company of their size, I thought they'd have their shit together more than they do. Gonna blame constant reorgs.

In my experience the bigger the company the less organized they are

I've had the same job for 7 years now, the longest I've ever been somewhere. I've passed on other opportunities in the past in the private sector that pay a lot more, but I value time, happiness, job freedom, life balance, convenience, people I work with, etc more than money. That said, I get paid a respectable salary with fantastic benefits and a ton of days off per year (contractually only work 236 days per year and that's not counting 63+ days annually I could theoretically take off with vacation/personal days).

My only worry right now is that for the first time since being here, we are starting to see some turnover among leadership positions and my boss will be retiring next year and depending on whoever gets hired to be my boss, that could change everything.

I'll start looking again depending on my raise/bonus in September. I missed the eligibility cut-off for raises/bonuses in March (hired in August, apparently the cut-off was July. This is not something they made clear in the hiring process). My work/life balance is pretty great at this job, but I could definitely be making more money elsewhere.

  11. I think constantly about leaving because I have no passion for my job, but I have basically the perfect situation for my life and lifestyle otherwise. Compensation, benefits, WFH, management culture/style...

They even have compensation range transparency for all non-salaried titles, and it adjusts annually (on top of merit raises of 3-6) so that we don't have the problem of new hires' pay outpacing earlier hires'.

I could make more money and I could switch careers, but at the expense of comfort I think I might be crazy to give up, especially with my wife's career trajectory making it look like I'll be primary caretaker with hypothetical kids...

  13. Did/do you get onto a different schedule with additional education?
In NY there are different service time salaries based on whether you have your MA/MS yet and if you've taken add'l grad credits (like 30, 60, and 75+ credits for example).

It just really sucks that nowadays to get any sort of bump in pay that is meaningful it feels like you have to job jump to be able to get that.

I could totally go to one of our competitors or companies we supply and make easily $15k more but again I really like the management and people I work with among also being the biggest company in our sector.

As long as you can come up with a decent reason of why you're leaving during interviews I don't think you need to wait too long at a job. Was only at my last one a year but started the process around 10 months.

yeah we get higher salary schuddles for all that here as well. Me and my wife both need to suck it up and get our masters here soon. We’ve been procrastinating on getting it way too much

I'm on my healthy boy shit at the moment so I do pancakes made with some vanilla protein powder, two eggs, and a banana. From blending to cooking I can have three decent sized pancakes (as long as its a big banana) in 15 minutes.

Slather on creamy PB and a cup of coffee.

  19. I was at the same company for 12 years and was relatively happy, great work life balance, etc. But I was severely underpaid. At some point you gotta get yours. Prime earning years are 30s and 40s before you plateau. The fact I left this first time for a huge bump means I'll be comfortable doing it again in a few years.

Also my first job was a Kroger bagger // cart pusher so I try and go above and beyond by putting my cart in the storing place because I feel for them.

5 years into doing this full time and I can pretty safely say at this point I think very few people would do this job if we didn't get our 8-9ish weeks in the summer haha. Like I don't think smaller 2-4 week long breaks sprinkled in during the year would do it for me.

But that could just be coming off the hardest year of teaching ever talking. Hoping this year is easier.

  24. Ahh I see. Around here your provisional license expires if you don't have an education-related Masters within 5 years of licensure, so the unions and local colleges have a lot of qualifying coursework on the cheap.
