Be smart. Go the Bad Religion/Mr Brett route. Believe It. Then tours and albums if it’s gonna work. Better off having 4 than ending up back at 2 again.

I've not as big of a fanatic as the majority on this site but the last Blink 182 show I saw was at the 550-capacity Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn and this was the set so I am happy to most likely have that be my final memory of them.

You know, I wonder if they’re doing a single together as a one off for the 30th anniversary. Probably not. But maybe.

I think Mark is a smart enough business man to not have this Tom rumor to be true. They all three are in respectable points in life and are fine where they are.

As epic as it would be to have Tom back, it’s not sustainable. Tom hates playing the same 15 blink songs on tour. He rejoins and we’ll have a new blink album in 9 years. No disrespect, different timelines for different musicians, but I feel like Mark really wanted to get back to the 2 or 3 year new album tour timeline. We won’t get that with Tom back.

I love Tom. He’s my favorite blink member. I think he is better off where he’s at right now professionally.

That being said, if he rejoined I would probably scream and 100% go to 3+ tour dates on whatever #20YearsOfUntitled tour stuff they’re doing next year. Also, I’m drunk at my bachelor party so I apologize for the rant. I’ve played blink entirely too much this weekend

7 years ago Mark & Travis didn’t see eye to eye with Tom about Blinks timeline. But time changes people. They’re all approaching 50, Marks a cancer survivor, Travis is newly married and is a full time producer.
I honestly think the days of constant touring and bi-yearly albums are over, regardless if it’s with Tom or Matt.

The big problem isn’t Tom rejoining the band, it’s quitting yet another time, stalling the band’s momentum or any drama that could come from reshuffling again.

I give credit to Skiba and Feldmann for jumping in to be a part of a very well established band and production role to keep Blink going so we can hear more Mark and Travis.

It’s a every-other summer tour band now. It’s fine. We’re all getting older. I’m just so happy we still have this band as active has they can be

I'm not entirely sure how much "momentum" a bunch of 50 year old in a pop punk band have left. I still love the band and hope for new music but I'm not expecting a grand resurgence of any sort anymore. If Tom comes back cool. If he doesn't and Skiba stays that's cool too. As long as the band is still active, that's ideal.

Albums are definitely going to get more and more scarce from them. Throwing Tom in the mix does nothing to derail that, other than most likely the quality of songs just sucking haha.

They did demos that were never released, California, California Deluxe, Tour, Nine, Christmas song, Quarantine, more touring, a bunch of guest appearances, recorded more songs for an EP or album that got shelved….kind of seems like they momentum to me. Plus they also had other projects going with radio shows, Alk3, producing other bands, and working on hip hop projects.

  18. i think throwing Tom back into the mix would definitely derail them putting out new music at even a snail's pace. he's too busy with stuff that he can't talk about, movies, tv shows, books, AVA related stuff, etc to give Blink more than an ounce of his time, at best.

If Tom was ever part of the writing, recording, and album release process for blink again, he’d have to be okay with being on a major label and working the someone like Feldman, which means meeting deadlines, prioritizing, and having time management. He’s not good with any of that haha.

Pretty sure Rise Records essentially let AVA take their time before they eventually started putting the heat on them for a set release date. Granted Covid helped AVA’s case in prolonging everything. Great album, BTW.

Yeah not saying that wasn't momentum, you're right, it was for sure. Just saying now at this point in time that's all gotta be built back up. Just not sure it can be done to that same degree.

Member health and lockdowns seemed to be the main derailing factor.

If they wanted, when the time is right, the could build that momentum for a filling album release. That was an impressive level of commitment to writing, studio work, touring, and staying out there working with so many artists (and doing press interviews).

I get they are older and established, but they were focused. You don’t want someone who doesn’t want to be all in for an an album cycle if they try and do it again (that they had on their last two Skiba Era records).

  22. Honestly, guys....

I wouldn't be shocked if the Tom rejoining/touring as a 4-piece/finally playing South America for the first time/longer set rumors are true and they're planning one final album together and a massive farewell tour and putting the band to rest. And then Mark's book chronicling the entire detailed life of Blink (that he seems to be working on right now) is the last thing they put out.

Nine came out in 2019, there's been a pandemic and serious illness in the last couple years that probably gave the guys (especially Mark) the time to reflect and think about the future.

So yeah, I dunno. I'd fucking love to be wrong, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this is the ball that's rolling.

And we'll still never hear the Dude Ranch demo tape. :sly:

And Tom released, Demos Odds & Ends, Two AVA EP's, Dream Walker Demos, Acoustic EP, Two AVA tours, AVA Single release during quarantine, Lifeforms full length, and a webstream concert. All evidence Tom might be more productive in blink this time around.

Isn't that evidence he'd be less productive? If he was in Blink, then he wouldn't be doing all those things and vice-versa.

I’d rather wait longer for an album with Tom than get another Nine or California.
