After MLB denied Lacob, he tried to buy into two other California baseball teams. First, the Angels, but when the Walt Disney Company wound up selling to Arte Moreno, Lacob pivoted to the Dodgers, who were being sold by Fox Entertainment Group.

“I had no right to own either one, really. I was a poor kid,” said Lacob, who moved with his family to Southern California at age 14. “I became an Angels fan and worked at Anaheim Stadium for seven years as a peanut vendor.”
