I didn't hear Bleachers on first listen either, but now I think it's in how the vocals are mixed/layered/filtered.

edit: Similarly, the Bon Iver vibes come from the way he's delivering certain lines I think.

 

I think the song sounds like Bon Iver because it sounds literally like “Skinny Love” and “Strafford APTS”

 

I find the track to be stunning. This will be the perfect soundtrack for the fall. Really love this band.

Just realized I wasn't following this thread! Love the song, love the video, and love the idea of a shorter 1975 album.

Just pre ordered the vinyl. It looks like instead of standard black all copies are clear?

 

i love the first two bleachers albums but i can't really think of a bleachers song that this sounds like

Came here to say this as well! Probably one of the first songs I’ve liked from this band in a long time

 

Know it’s unlikely but would love if the fall tour was in smaller venues. Feels like a good time to reset post Notes and POTB’s chorus is so intimate… could see it being a vibe.

 

This makes me think more generally of JV than Bon Iver specifically.

Does anyone know how many copies are being pressed of the blue LP?

 

I would pay a stupid amount of money to see them in a club. Agreed it probably won’t happen, but if there was a pop-up show I’d 100% be there

This reminds me a lot of "Viva La Vida" era Coldplay, where I felt their sound was going kind of stale with the last album (I was not a fan of Coldplay's "X&Y" and didn't like most of "Notes") and this just guts that sound and makes the band sound so fresh. This is a really good song.

 

I really dig it, and with a shorter album I feel like the rest is gonna be super cohesive with it sonically or just vary wildly, either prospect excites me

i think a 1975 record recorded largely live on the floor with v few edits (if i'm reading the interviews/pr right) is probably gonna sound sonically cohesive on some level

 

which is honestly v exciting to me...... them going in a more naturalistic direction sounds dope even though i half wanted them to become a dance band who knows maybe they still will

 

I am solidly in “I love this ” territory with this song. I’ve listened to it a dangerous number of times considering the record isn’t out for over 3 months

 

them pivoting to a largely recorded live / more naturalistic album w a shorter tracklist makes sense after the sprawl and mostly electronic experimentation of NOOACF (which I loved FWIW)

ik matty in previous press cycle interviews has even talked about wanting to do a shorter more *concise* record
