I'd rather have dental surgery than make a major label pop album right now. The amount of fucking tinkering and the overwhelming amount of shit they throw at the wall and see what sticks with is upsetting.

Yeah, that GTA collab sounds really good.

So we're assuming "All My Friends" is on the album, yes? That had to be her biggest "hit" so far from this release.

She's playing UW Fall Fling with Dave B on the 26 and I might try to go even though I don't go to the school. Free for students but hopefully open to public

What do y'all feel when artists release albums that are heavily chaperoned, cut, edited, changed, and pushed back by the label? Obviously not the artists' fault but it really fucks with the thrill of a first listen. I remember hearing that Amethyst tape awhile back and feeling sooooo pumped for the album, feeling like Joyride would be Tinashe's breakout record-- the one where she truly stands out as an individual and an artist. But now I know for certain that this album will be tweaked to the point where its not even hers anymore. I dunno, I've lost a lot of faith-- just some thoughts.

 

How Many Times (Will This Album Get Pushed Back)

 

For me, the leadup and situations don't really effect a final product. I know that SO much happens behind the scenes of so many albums that I don't really take that into consideration when listening. I don't think that I could make a blanket statement that it makes albums worse, so I try not to think about it I guess.

 

yeah i mean ANTI was pushed back for like a full year too, and that's rihanna's best record. pablo kept getting pushed, free TC, etc etc
