The layered vocals remind me a lot of BI too. Especially when he goes down low on the “talk about the people” line. Not hearing much Dylan.

    Apparently a 2023 tour.

    It’s… interesting… in typical The 1975 fashion.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one hearing Bleachers in this, and funny enough Jack is indeed credited on the track… something I didn’t see coming in a million years, but hey I’m here for it!

I guess how often they jump genres lends itself to going “this song sounds like Band A, this song sounds like Band B”, but that doesn’t really factor into me liking or disliking a song.

It's kind of funny to me because of how much other bands get compared to the 1975, everyone sounds like someone at some point

Yup, especially when the comparison is from a style they’ve mostly stayed away from for 6-7 years.

  14. Song is great, The 1975 are the only band that can blatantly pull from their influences without sounding derivative and the closing harmonies rule. No idea how they will pull this off live.

  15. too many bands sounding like how this band used to sound and not enough burning everything down and starting over every album cycle like this band seemingly continues to do. more experimentation would be great in general, don't really fuck with these guys anymore but I admire their commitment to reinvention

Matty did rip off the Happy Mask Salesman in the video though, that’s blatant.

There is absolutely Bleachers vibes in this track, and I will not tolerate any Bleachers slander here, despite how blah their last album was

Damn I didn’t realize how much people hated Bleachers. Lol

Loving this. Definitely an unexpected direction. Hope he’s serious about this being representative of the album because this would be a cool thing for them to explore more of

I'm always mildly interested in what these guys do even if I have never fully bought in on one of their albums. Cool song, love the new sound. Aside from other comparisons, I hear a little Whitney. That might be the drums though?

If this sound is truly indicative of the album overall, it could easily become my favorite of theirs pretty quickly.

My first thought on Matty’s vocal performance and cadence here was Adam Duritz/Counting Crows. But I think all the Bon Iver/Coldplay/Dylan comparisons make a ton of sense.

This will be a song though live that people in the crowd will lessen their attention towards a bit and just chill and chat with their friends/significant other through
