  2. Don't love the single, but thankfully, I seem to be in the minority here. Still looking forward to this!

I’d say I like, not love it. I think it’s a solid sort of run of the mill AFS song, but also makes a lot of sense as a single. I’m hoping they chose a song that specially mirrors their classic sound in hopes to calm peoples nerves that they’d come back and drastically change their sound like a lot of bands do. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that either)

  4. See, I feel like the only person that doesn't hear this as "classic AFS" haha. I mean the instrumentation is similar but Ben's voice is a lot...smoother? Like he improved as a vocalist. And that's great! But sometimes, that can also take some time for me to adjust as a listener or can even slightly turn me off. The energy is just different here. This also happened with Ben Gibbard, but I still love Death Cab, so hopefully the same will be the case here.

I haven't listened to the song yet, but I'm exited to hear how his voice has improved. I love AFS, but when I listen to them now, his voice sounds so whiny. I play them a lot and my wife and I laugh at how dramatic some of the songs are between his vocals and the lyrics.

Was just able to listen and I really like it. Pretty middle of the road song but his voice sounds good.

For anyone who doesn't follow him on social media, it looks like him and his wife split. As someone who just got married, this song hits hard knowing it's not guaranteed to last

We reach for the longest shadow

Never knew much about this band outside of singles and that the lead singer was married to the blonde from 30 Rock. Looks like they divorced in 2020, so that's a bummer, and hard to think that didn't play into this reunion given the lyrics on this one. Song is fine, love the album art though. Cool for EVR to get these guys back and Anberlin on board in the span of a week.

I love the song. Even if I didn't I would still be hyped that we have an AFS album coming out in 2022. Never thought it would happen.

"You used to be my hoooome" is already stuck in my head

Yeah song is fine. It’ll probably grow on me. I’m just excited this band is making music again. Definitely not something I expected to happen considering how long they’ve been inactive.

It's a dream made real to have a new album 15 years later. I think the song is good and I hope they drop merch/pre-orders today along with a video.

spare only the ones I love

I really like the song & it seems like a pretty safe song to put out there first. The intro guitar is very reminiscent of Wanderers Guild.

I do hope we get some of those more aggressive vocals that he's capable of but he sounds great.

After a few more listens, I like the track a little more.

I still think Ben sounds watered down and a little too polished but he’s also about to be 40 so I can’t expect him to be nearly as emo/angsty haha

I’m also hoping that there are some more bangers and that this isn’t as “throwback” as it gets on the new record.
