I live in the area, the city preemptively canceled their 4th of July events in the wake of this.

 

So sad and infuriating

 

I’m about 40 miles north of Akron. I love Akron. Hope everyone stays safe these next few days/weeks.

 

By the time I saw this a while ago, the headline was different, specifying young women *who* fight against

I can’t bring myself to watch the body cam footage after everything I’ve read about it.

I read he fired at police. It doesn’t matter, those piece of shit cops murdered an unarmed man who was running away, but can anyone who watched the footage tell me if there’s even evidence of him firing first. Or is that something we’re just supposed to take their word for?

 

He shot at them while they were pursuing him in his vehicle. They heard the shot and a camera from the transportation department caught a flash coming from his car at that time. Then a few minutes later he slowed down and got out of his vehicle and started running away and was unarmed.

Obviously yes he was wrong to fire at the police and was wrong to run, no need to justify that. But there is no justification to shoot 90 times at an unarmed person running away from the police. I watched the video, he was immobilized within a second of them shooting, then all of the cops continued firing an extra 6 seconds. Talk about an excessive execution.

 

I’m not even convinced he ever fired at police. I thought it was hard to tell for sure via the footage they showed.

Also, cops lie about everything.

 

This is why I asked. I saw a few tweets saying the supposed evidence of him firing (the traffic camera footage) is very unclear. I don’t believe a thing the police have to say in these situations.

 

I haven’t looked into it but how was he firing at police and then unarmed when he was shot 90 fucking times?
