That remix of Separate Ways by Journey at the end of episode 8 fucking ruled.

 

Loved every second.

 

These episodes would be like half the length if they didn't show every callback they made.

I think overall I liked it. I don’t think it all works. The Russia stuff seemed like a giant stretch in that it would help everyone else out. Still a fun show and the last season should be legit.

 

Like how pizza guy is just running with it throughout the entire season lol. Doesn't question anything.

I feel like they've embraced that they make something kinda schlocky and cheesy, with characters who are intentionally written as characters and not meant to be totally realistic or plausible. It's fusing so much good shit together and progressing in such interesting ways from one season to the next, and producing some magic TV moments.

 

I think there's a really good season in here if it was a tighter 6 episodes maybe. Probably my least favorite season.

 

Can't believe they rug-pulled a main character death two seasons in a row. I still love the show, but it is so scared to take real chances.

 

I know people didn't like the Russia plot but the scene in the finale where Hopper decapitates a Gorgon with a sword was extremely tight.

I'm super confused why the "earthquake" stopped. It looked like the entire town was going to turn into the upside down and then it's just sunny skies?

You could have easily not had the Russia plot but they put Hopper there and needed something for him to do.

Basketball guy plot could have easily been eliminated as well. Could have come up with another way to break the walkman.

 

A lot of the negative commentary I’ve seen seems to stem from thinking the show was some hyper realistic drama piece and not an 80s love letter to things like Goonies and ET.

 

So Jonathan and Nancy really didn't progress at all, huh?

 

At the end. They were THIS fucking close to having a bold interesting Empire Strikes Back or Goblet Of Fire-esque ending. But then the writers were like "what if we gave Eleven Jesus powers out of nowhere?"

Finale would've been better without the time jump IMO
