This new slew of music (beyond this EP) was produced with JJ who produced the newest Underøath record.

I’m hearing some Voyeurist vibes in this and it is so heavy without being over the top. I love this song! More more more.

Not sure whether to just wait and see if it does become a full length or not. I'd much rather listen to an album than an EP.

  4. Oh that's the other new song they were playing live in recent shows, glad to hear it in studio form. I like how weird it gets in the beginning, as it builds towards that low tuned riff. Anyone else is getting PVRIS vibes from the chorus? It's the way Stephen's vocals are layered that does it for me, especially the one that is an octave higher than the rest and sounds like he's shouting to hit those high notes, which Lynn tends to do as well.

I've been vocal enough on here about my experience working with these guys (or trying to) before their breakup, and about wishing they'd be much more direct and forthcoming with everything they've been up to post-reunion, so part of me was secretly hoping I wouldn't like the new music so I could just jump ship altogether.

However, dang, I like this song a lot. X-(

Like the song - especially the outro - but the chorus is gonna take me some time lol

Such an odd way to actually end the song, reminds me of Pity & Fear

"I am the patron saint of lost causes"

I know you are and has been more invested with Anberlin than I have ever been (I am still thankful for Anberlin Forever) but how come you have this bittersweet feeling towards them? I don't like it either when a band disbands, has a final album, final tour etc. then has a reunion all of a sudden but honestly if one of my favourite bands do this then I am just happy overall. Especially if the material they put out after the reunion is this good.

This is super cool. I'm glad this is and Two Graves are so different from their previous output, I'm glad they reunited to tread new ground and not just rehash their old stuff. This one seems very pop informed with some of the melodies and production choices.

Can't get enough. Production wins me over here. Very big and heavy without being over the top for them

I like this a lot, sounds like such a natural progression (extension?) from Lowborn. Initial thoughts on this:

The intro sounds like something off of the last Acceptance album, which is not a bad thing at all.

I love Stephan's vocals and layered sound on the chorus. Almost like what they were going for with the aggressive vocals on Dissenter but pulled off so much better. They are buried in the mix just enough that I want more.

Is anybody else expecting the guitar part at ~3:55-4:00 to head right into the outro to Orpheum? Almost identical sound/tone.

Love everything about this song. It perfectly embodies that very Anberlin-esque tightrope walk of sounding like a huge, epic song without sounding cheesy.

i will die on the hill of Vital being their best album, but hearing them incorporate this musical maturity into a Cities-esque sound (even moreso than Vital) makes me very excited.

  18. Nothing Lost for the chorus probably.

I probably will, if album's like this I'll be all in.

    I meant less-Lowborn, I was tired :crylaugh:

as much as i loved Lowborn, it was kinda scattershot. like they had a lot of strong songs that built off of the ideas of their newer material, but it wasn't incredibly cohesive. so i'm glad they can incorporate the good elements of that album, but focus more on the sounds of their best work.

I'm such a sucker for bands having singing/screaming the same thing layered on top of each other, and it sounds so cool here. This might be my favorite Anberlin song since Vital.

EDIT: I have this on a New Releases playlist that played TDWP's Sacrifice afterwards, and they honestly don't sound all that different. Wild to think considering what these bands both sounded like, in say, 2007.

I'm sure it'll grow on me but I feel like there are too many layers on the chorus. Especially that first chorus.
