No one is "slumming it" with Jimmy Eat World.

The assumption that they aren't trying for "mainstream appeal" is a little odd. They were booked as the opener on Halsey's 2020 tour that got cancelled. And the dates on that MGK tour were definitely an attempt at getting some crossover with a younger audience (that you won't really get at WWYF).

Similarly, a hometown Jimmy Eat World show would give them exposure to folks who might otherwise not be familiar with them (and also: maybe they're just big fans or friends with them and/or the Maine and thought it would be fun to play it?)...

It just seems more like a band trying to make things work and broaden their audience in smart, targeted ways. And they keep kinda getting inadvertently fucked over.

 

For the record, I love PVRIS and love the fact they're still close with all those bands, I'm just surprised because like 3 years ago they wouldn't be caught dead being compared to those bands. I'm sure these are fine business decisions, and they're still early on in their career, it just caught me off-guard personally.

So there’s not a whole lot of data on Coheed, but here are the three year averages for Coheed vs DGD across all markets on headline shows. Of course since there’s more data for DGD, it’s an unfair comparison.

And I should point out that it’s up to the promoter or agent/management if the data gets uploaded. It’s usually pretty consistent with AEG and LiveNation but hit or miss otherwise.
