Nah it's cool, people have given their reasons in the past for why they like that song so much. Seems to be a lot of people liking it so much because it sounds like Hum, but they've never clicked with me, so I chalk it up to that.

    Toys has undeniable catchy riffage.

I think Shoulders should be in the conversation, though I will admit I don't think the riff is particularly Coheed-y, it just rips so hard haha.

I think Shoulders is my least favorite. Which is just a further ringing endorsement of the album

Edit: even "least" feels harsh. So I'll say "last favorite" haha.

Some stray thoughts while taking the album on a walk:

"Beautiful Losers" could have been in Bill & Ted Face the Music. Shout-out to Zach's tone on "Love Murder One". I hope they open their show on the new tour with the horns version of "Old Flames". A bit nitpicky but, while the reprise of "Old Flames" is neat, they should have cut "Lucky Stars" from Vaxis I for it to really hold water.

the fact that Coheed is still so popular makes me wonder how much my Issue #1 of their comic book is worth

I think Toys rules because it has such an infectious riff, soaring chorus, and a powerfully driving beat. Everything really works well together on that one. The solo, some really tasteful drum fills, and that moment before the final chorus with just the isolated vocals are so awesome, not to mention when Claudio holds that note in the last chorus and the band holds to add emphasis to the moment. Just such a highlight on an album full of them.

I do love that you can clearly hear Josh's voice in that isolated vocals part.

So you aren’t confused at all and decided to post an inflammatory post about a fan favorite to kick up some shit. Cool cool.

Didn't mean to "kick up some shit" would've thought from my previous posts in here that it's clear that's not my goal when posting. I probably should've said, "I wish I saw in Toys what y'all do because it's one of my least favorites on TUC".

EDIT: and for the record I didn't take the terse response as inflammatory either. We've all been talking in these Coheed threads for years, I recognize most of the usernames, I feel (if wrongly I'll admit I'm wrong) that there's been some camaraderie built up between most of us.

This is one of my favourite things Coheed have done, and love it significantly more than Vaxis 1. Basically no skips, with some of their catchiest bangers mixed in with weird experimental stuff and enough ‘classic’ Coheed stuff - and coming to a close with one of the most epic songs they’ve ever done? I can’t believe we’re ten albums in, as this album sounds like such a rejuvenation from an already lethally consistent band.

On a similar note, if they close sets this summer with Ladders > Rise > Window... My god.

As cool as this would be, I doubt they’d do it. I imagine they’ll open with embers of fire > beautiful losers, and play shoulders, liars club, and a disappearing act.

Really curious to see what their setlist will look like for this tour. Looks like they played 17 songs per night one their last tour spanning at least one song from almost every album (nothing from Descension :verysad:), but no more than three songs from any album. Now they have ten albums to form a setlist from with plenty of long songs throughout their discography.

Crazy long shot, but with both Love Murder One and Bad Man using 7 or 8 string guitars, I wish they would play Gravity’s Union again. That song has been played on criminally few tours. I’ve only seen it once.
