The Wonder Years are the only band I've driven more than 2, 2.5 hours to see

I am old, but I also go to a lot of shows. I've been to.... 415 concerts since 1999

I started keeping a google doc probably ten years ago, and then switched over to concertarchives. I remember it took me an entire summer to input everything and I had to dig through boxes of tickets and old folders of photos on my laptop to piece it together with openers and venues that don't exist anymore. Need to update it with the past month still.

  6. I keep a detailed spreadsheet of every show I've been to (minus a handful of local shows that happened before I started really keeping track and couldn't find fliers/Facebook events for). I'm at 869 total - first one was in 2005.

The Wonder Years are the most for me at 27 times, and that's without traveling a ton. They just play the Chicago area a lot, and their B-market tours tend to hit Bloomington, which isn't too long of a drive, and I can stay with my parents.

I've seen MCS seven times, but Riot Fest last year was the only time I've seen them with Tony on drums. My first MCS show was also their show after he left the band - Decatur, IL in 2013.

I've ALWAYS kept old ticket stubs, so that's how I was able to add past information. I may be missing 1 or 2 for shows I didn't keep the stub for, but that site has saved my life in this day & age of mobile ticketing.

Remember when paper tickets were free to receive by mail and you actually had to pay for email/print@home tickets?

I definitely still have all my stubs from the good ol' days. I remember having to wait in line at a physical Warehouse/FYE location to get tickets, so crazy

I've been writing setlists and keeping track of nearly every national band I've seen the last 15-20 years on setlist.fm. I've seen Motion City 7 times at this point. The Spill Canvas is my most shows at 8 or 9 since they're from my hometown / current city. I've seen Weird Al 5 times, and a 6th time next month where I get to meet him and I'm so excited!

I definitely have ticket stubs, and some set lists, from past shows. I don’t keep a running list; my friend keeps a note on her phone of all her Andrew shows and puts an asterisk next to the ones I’ve gone to with her, lol. It’s the only way I know my total.
But yes I’m old (36 in august) and have been to many many shows. Have travelled across the country to see some “milestone” AM shows (first something corporate reunion tour, the last two of the reunion show, and him play solo at the coach house where he was “discovered.”

Basically, if it’s a show I really want to see, I will travel. Lol

Early in the dark days of 2020 I tried putting together a doc that included every artist I had ever seen live. Had to look up lineups from warped tours/festivals from over a decade ago. The dates are probably approximates but I think I did a good job.

  12. Over the years I've used Lastfm to list all the shows I've been to, but I should probably copy paste that somewhere else in case that site goes down one day.

  13. Wow did not know there was a site dedicated to cataloging shows you've been to. There's no way I can remember all the shows I've attended but it'll be fun to try

My list would completely collapse when I got to the B Tier Drive-Thru Records shows in 2004-2005

Thank God I found concertarchives when I did, hmm 5 years ago? My memory has just turned to mush and im starting to forget things already hah.

I just went venue by venue, band by band and said "hmm where did I see them" and just did that as much as I could. Im sure I forgot 1 or 2 but yeah...its cool to look back.

    144 concerts.

Motion City 8 times. Which puts them at 7th most. But! Only 3 of those times were headlining shows. The rest was warped tour and bamboozle so

This is so bonkers to me. The number of shows I'd have gone to if they were closer. Holy hell. I'm getting goosebumps from thinking about all the awesome stuff I could have seen had I lived in a metropolitan area.

Nearest the Wonder Years have ever been to me is 3 hours (and I drove to see them there). I used to regularly drive 7 hours to see MCS or Alkaline Trio in Minneapolis.

I probably have never driven more than a couple hours for a show, it's an embarrassment of riches in SoCal

Not driving further for shows for me comes down to not wanting to drive home late at night, so I’d end up having to get a room somewhere, so just adds costs to the whole thing. Even if OKC to Dallas is like 3.5 hours, if I’m leaving a show at 11 PM im not gonna drive until 2:30-3 AM

But obviously everyone’s situation is different and admittedly I havent often thought about what it’s like to live in North Dakota lol

  21. Fortunately Erie is smack dab in the middle of Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Cleveland (two hours out either way) so it could be much worse in terms of concert options.

  22. I’m within walking distance of 6 or 7 of our most popular venues here in Salt Lake City. I’ve driven to Vegas a couple times for shows. And I’ve flown to Cali a few times for shows too.

I consider anything within 6 hours fair game if I want to go bad enough and they're not coming to Chicago. I've driven to St Louis, Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis, and Detroit.

I flew to Nashville for Lorde and that's the farthest I've gone for one specific concert. I've also traveled for like Coachella and Parahoy but I feel like that's kind of a different convo.
