A major strength in Persona, at least for me, is that it cuts all the fat out of a sim type game. Like FE Three Houses was too much sim shit for me, it got tedious after a while. Persona just cuts right to the scenes you need to do and make choices. The fast travel function in P5R is amazing too, idk if it's as good in P4G but like I said, it's not the weeb HS sim you are thinking it is.

holy shit, FF16 does not sound like mu cup of tea at all. DMC combat, not being able to control party members? This isn't the Final Fantasy I love. Will still get it day one tho.

 

I think XII was the last one I really loved from a FF perspective. I've liked everything since, to a varying degree, but XIII feels like where the switch hurt for me.

FF16 looks and sounds rad, FF has always tried to change each game, I'm not surprised it's not turn based anymore, it hasn't been since FF10 really lol

 

i'm not asking for to be turn based anymore. I'd like it to still be a JRPG though. They did this same shit with XV and it was so bad that they had to fix it and add the ability to play as your party members later. If I want DMC type of combat I'll play an action game, not one of the biggest and most important RPG franchises of all time.

 

I mean, it's an action JRPG. It's no different than games like Ys that have action oriented combat. Ys X was basically just announced to be in a similar vein to this as well with no party member slol

Just because it's not what you want doesn't make it any less of a JRPG

 

then a better way to put it is, it's not what I want from a JRPG. We aren't talking about Ys rn though, we are talking about Final Fantasy. XV started having one playable character and a boring and bland action RPG combat system. The game wasn't received well by most. VII-Remake came along and did the action RPG thing while also adding turn based elements and you could control your party. That game was very well received. It's baffling to me that they would go back to something people hated and that Square themselves had to fix because of the backlash.

 

FF7R was very enjoyable. I’d be sad to see them go back to an FFXV type system.

 

Alright, so it's like this.

Someone actually gave me Elden Ring, like, a while ago. Like Danganronpa 1 while ago.

But I had already gotten thick into Danganronpa 1, and I don't like to play multiple games at once or stop something once I've started it, and a game like Elden Ring would require my full attention.

So, I've been sitting on Elden Ring this entire time, with the intent that once I finish Danganronpa V3, that will be the next thing I do.

I feel like the thought that I was playing Ultra Despair Girls when I could've been playing Elden Ring will break some people's minds, but it's true.

 

I should actually finish a Danganronpa lol

I see where @emojedi is coming from completely, if I didn't trust Yoshi so much I would be really skeptical, but if you look at the last couple FF's, 13 and 15, obviously excluding XIV because its an MMORPG, there is major cause for concern.

I was upset it stopped being turn-based a long time ago, I have come around on being okay with that now though, honestly FF7R is what changed my mind.

I was bummed when I first played FF7R, I had long dreamt of a remake and I always just assumed it would be turn-based. I stopped playing halfway through it the first time.

After some time I went back and played again and finished it and fucking loved it though.

Bro that was some half-assed bullshit they came up with to placate geeks like me who wanted turn-based. Plus in the original game you could only do turn-based in easy mode, where its legit impossible to die.
