Yeah, spectacular game

 

I finished Tales of Arise and that back half was very disappointing. reused enemy designs, damage sponges, story falling flat, just overall a meh ending. First half had me very hopeful but it fell off and didn’t live up to the quality of previous Tales games.

think I might jump into Deathloop next.

Shredders revenge - worth it and is it as difficult as the old school games?

Fuckin' absolutely. Love the second one, and the callbacks to the first one only make it all the sweeter. It's so good. I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.

 

The Ancient Ruin puzzles in HFW remain a highlight.

Finished off Jedi: Fallen Order! It definitely got a bit more consistent in the back half and also felt like the story rushed a little in the final stretch. Wonder where the sequel will take us! And please... fix the map system / add fast travel to meditation points OR ability to return to ship from anywhere on a planet??? Please?


Player’s Log: Slay The Spire (PS4)

This game slaps. If you’re into card-based gameplay, deckbuilding, or roguelikes (or all three) - this game is so so good! Easy to pick up but will take some time to master.

Enjoyable from the first run, and as I sink deeper into the more complicated synergies whilst trying to complete runs on higher difficulties (like Hades “heat” system, in a way) - I find myself truly appreciating how complex the game can be if you experiment with different card abilities and crazy deckbuild ideas... and RNG. Super fun!

Finished Mass Effect 1 yesterday and started 2 today. Insane how well 2 holds up still. I think it’s an upgrade in every way possible.

Slight nitpick: I miss getting XP from killing enemies. I remember that irritating me to death when it originally came out.

 

Played the first couple hours of The Quarry with some friends while streaming tonight. Definitely fun if you’re a fan of that studio’s other games, some iffy writing aside.

The Quarry was easily my favorite game Supermassive have made.

 

Map system in J:FO is def one of the game’s biggest flaws/frustrations, especially on Zeffo where it’s really easy to get lost. Fast travel to the ship would also be a big QoL upgrade.

 

Finished! There's like a weird difficulty spike in the platforming area before the final boss... Anyway, all in all I really liked it. What this game lacks in rpg elements (Hollow Knight with its charms, Bloodstained with its weapons) it makes up for in just how damn charming it is.

 

All of the Shantae games are hella charming. And just think it all started from an innocuous little Game Boy Color title. I'm glad WayForward got to keep the dream alive.

 

I might be using innocuous in a way it wasn't intended. Don't care, I like it better this way.
