Ever since I subbed to the observer, like 4 or 5 years ago, Dave has an awful cough for like 3 months of the year, every year. I do think I remember him bein real bad at WK in 2020.

Wildest part of this is that, in podcasts, his biggest gripe with WWE was them wanting him to go to rehab and taking him away from his family for those 30 days when he (presumably) was clean

the next day they say 'go to rehab or we are gonna release you'. So I mean, and that's just, I am not leaving my family for 28 days to save my job.

But yeah, I just dont think Jeff Hardy is wired like most of us. Like, we're talking the guy that decided to do ladder bumps in his brothers backyard working for a company that was on the verge of dying every week. At some point, you accept its how he defines himself

From that same Stone Cold podcast, Jeff on his 2003 WWE release

“That was the first time I denied rehab,” Hardy told Austin. “I was like, ‘Nah! I got this.’ But I was in denial about my issue, my problem.”

“I thought I had it down or [had at least] controlled my addiction,” Hardy said.

A majority of addicts think a lot alike, thats really why ultimately the solution in recovery is one addict helping another. Addict thinking is delusional, extremely self-centered and self-serving as well as manipulative. There's a house of lies being built and the addict will do anything necessary to keep the lie alive. Anything.

Like I said before, Jeff won't 'want' to get better until he hits a bottom. His only shot at hitting a bottom is when zero wrestling companies will hire him. I think we have hit that point, I HOPE we have.

The fact that Tk hasn't announced Jeff's release yet worries me that he's only going to suspend him or something

imagine thinking the rampant needless speculation here is bad when Reddit and Twitter already have deduced the full psychological profile of Matt and Jeff

Let's get these people moving faster!

There was such an irony too that in his Stone Cold interview he spoke about how big a mistake it was not going to rehab back in the day (around the time of his feud with Taker) and how that stunted his career momentum. It's unfortunate that he was able to reflect on that as a past mistake, but seemingly not apply it to his ongoing battles with the same problem(s) today.

Realistically that was about as strict as they would go with the discipline. They knew the risks when they hired him, and with his long documented history of addiction, and not simply isolated instances of bad behaviour, they were always likely to have to support his treatment (should he be willing to pursue it).

I mean, that’s best case scenario for what they can do? Don’t know why it’s a bad thing. He’s not getting paid, and needs to actually do the work if he ever wants to come back. If he refuses I’m sure he’s gone. Saying he has to maintain his sobriety on top of completing the treatment says it all. He’s not coming back any time soon, if at all.

Yeah, that's a pretty reasonable response by TK, imo. It's all on Jeff to grab his life back, but he's gonna have to actually choose to get right, and it'll likely take several years. I think he's done as a wrestler, but far from done as a human being.

    Just go get healthy, Jeff.

The only other time I can remember in AEW's very short history that TK suspended/cut a wrestler for alcoholic reasons was that Havok dude back in 2019 or 2020.

Otherwise, like others have said, they knew what they were getting with Jeff Hardy. I think Matt is one of the most ludicrous enablers I've ever seen in my life. The further away Jeff gets from Matt, especially if he goes to rehab and maintains sobriety, the better.

Yeah, this is about the best you can do, and the only problem I'd have with it is if Jeff's still going through the legal process, does a quick-month rehab and then comes back to become champ almost immediately.

Like, we shouldnt be seeing Jeff on TV until well into the fall, if all goes perfectly for him
