probably they could have pared back some of the subplots a liiiittle bit. but I'll take an overstuffed season over 3's "present the entire mystery in the first episode and watch the characters painstakingly figure it out for another 7" approach lol

 

4 things we want to fix about 'Stranger Things 4'

 

I 100% disagree about the bottle episodes.

 

The bottle episodes would have been dumb and bad.

also the dude that becomes venca was in a ton of seasons before episode 6 or am I crazy?

 

Maybe they should have just done the plot lines that dragged on too long faster, or not at all. Whole lot of set-up just to reestablish a status quo.

I think he had brief appearances in those episodes, but didn't really say or do anything.

so much of this season, in my opinion just from a quick 2 day binge, was that it felt like they had no idea what to do with SO many characters. like, clearly the Hawkins plot was the main plot, but they obviously needed a plotline for eleven, and Mike, and Will, and Hopper & Joyce, and just threw a bunch of stuff against the wall.

 

I agree with that minus eleven. That part def seems like one of the main through-lines they considered. Very very different than just "oh Johnathon's a stoner now i guess and will likes to paint now."

I noticed this as well. Feels like they changed her personality from season 3.

 

Robin's still my favorite character , just ... totally not agreeing with any of the criticisms I've read. Thought the story was super strong and the show earned all their arcs.

I actually agree with that article about fixing the problems. I don't think eleven needed to be a bottle episode but hopper sure could have been. In fact, you probably could have still done the Joyce antics, but when she eventually reaches hopper or whenever hopper and Joyce resurface in Hawkins to help save the day... then we can cut to a "hopper where have you been" episode.

I had that exact thought so agreed.

And that's a good point about Nancy. I agree the trying to do love triangle thing again seems pointless and unnecessary.

And yeah the bloat, which I've mentioned too, is obviously a lot.

Still need to rewatch season 1 but I'm thinking this is my favourite as well.

 

3> 1 > 4 > 2. Although I really haven't seen much of season 2, it's the only one that I never rewatched

And to restate, I still really liked the season. Its a lot of fun to have a show like this, so popular, and yet pretty damn good too. But man , it definitely just dawned on me that stranger things is gonna have a trillion spin offs, prequels, sequels, and God damnit. That is the world we live in but....God damnir

 

I think I’ve been really critical of this season, and after all this time I’m definitely noticing more little issues with this show and their plot choices / character choices specifically.

that said, I’ve been hooked more on this season than any since the first one and I had a great time binging it. Highs were higher than anything they’ve done too.
