Oh yeah, that seems most obvious. The "reimagining" must be related to the FC reimaging they teased, they say something is coming "toward the end of the year" and thus I thought "time" might = 12:03 - release of FC reimagining coming on 3rd Dec...although that's a Saturday so ignore me :crylaugh:

Are there really that many more FC fans than for any other of their albums? I mean what is the demand for so much of the band’s focus to go there? I like the album and it’s obviously groundbreaking but their other stuff is much better, and my impression was that Common Existence is the only one most people are split on.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

It’s the album most the fanbase only care about unfortunately, and it shows at their concerts. Anything past WATT is when a lot tune out and it sucks

  12. Purely anecdotal, but within my sphere of music friends, the majority who care about Thursday at all don't like anything after WATT, and some don't even really like that album.

The last few shows of theirs I went to before they went on a break and came back with these album shows was bleak. Band was great but Most people would leave before they came on and were clearly just there for the openers. Unfortunately I think they capitalize on full collapse and watt for a reason

At a minimum city and ND are clearly better

saddens me how little ppl seem to dig the later records. full collapse is great but at least half of their discog tops it. no dev is one of the greatest albums by anyone imo

It’s hard for me to conceptualize how many people like Thursday enough to go and see a show in 2022 but also only want to hear full collapse. Sure the record was big but their name and rep always felt bigger than they actually were to me, and its a lot less surprising for their more popular peers to be this level of a live legacy band.

Then again I say the same thing about bigger bands when they play old stuff so really I just don’t understand concert goers lol.

I think they're doing themselves down not giving more love to the rest of their discog. If they're not gonna play it, it's harder for people to fall in love with it. Hopefully they start to put some new music together eventually and it gives them the ambition to mix up their sets.

Yeah, seems like they're pigeonholing themselves. If the band itself doesn't rep their other records then why should a "FC-only fan" care to give them a chance?

I mean...I get what you're all saying, but quite literally all of their albums have been out for more than a decade. It's very unlikely that the mass majority of people going to Thursday shows are all of a sudden going to go back and get into Common Existence 13 years later because they played a song or two at a show. They're doing what a lot of bands in the scene are doing and catering to the mass majority of fans who were only into the band's first album or two during the early 2000s.

That said, they have definitely run to the FC well (and WATT) way too many times and it also doesn't help that they're a band that typically plays shorter sets (13-15 songs per night) instead of expanding the set to 20 or so songs and including a variety of other material.

Personally I'd LOVE to see more post-WATT songs at their shows, but I get their reasoning.

And not to shit on Thursday, because they're one of my favorite bands, but I always LOL when bands say something like 'we're going to be playing smaller venues that usual' or 'we want to have a more intimate experience' and it's like...nah, that's the venue size that fits appropriately with the size of your fan base right now. Like, what band would turn down more money/opportunity to play bigger venues?

Last time I saw Thursday was a House of Blues show and it was easily the least attended HOB show I had ever been too. It was a great show, but that's where the band is at right now. Hopefully the opening for MCR will get them back up a few realms.

I wonder if the lack of later songs in their setlists is because Andrew hasn’t toured with them to keyboards. I do think it’s ultimately a fan-reception thing though. At least they played Running from the Rain and Autumn Leaves Revisited earlier this year!

I agree with you as far as what make sense--these bands gotta play what people wanna hear, just is what it is. That said, I have stopped seeing Thursday for this reason. No need to go out of my way to see them play 14 songs, 13 of which they played the last time I saw them
