Was checking out the pre-order on BV and saw the craziest suggested bundle. Not saying I wouldn’t go for it though lol

    post RADICAL

Single has me interested and such a tease that it cuts off right before going into The Tricks...

I need to go back and really give Wait for Love a chance. It didn't hit me as hard as Keep You did. I listen to KY so often.

Processing some grief to Keep You and it’s really just one of the best albums of all time. Coming out trans, navigating the very real actualized fears of what that experience is like. It’s just such an amazing album. It’s made me cry multiple times tonight by the words, by the atmosphere it creates, the raw emotion. God damn

Anyone got any idea what Genevieve is about? I had a few listens with the lyrics and it has that Durfey trademark of vague references / turn of phrases that are obviously quite personal to him and make it difficult to decode the true meaning of the song.

"His Schylling shakes low and breaks"

Only obvious reference I can find to Schylling is the toy manufacturer from Massachusetts who make "delightful playthings from a bygone era". It doesn't seem to have a single particular toy that you would typically call a "Schylling", so assuming this is quite a personal reference. It might represent the breaking of an innocence or playfulness?

    "Practice takes purses"

Feels like a play on the "Practice makes perfect" idiom, where the practice is potentially costly? Could be on a financial or emotional level.

I might have this all wrong, but my take is that it is about a relationship in which a couple is trying for a child, which is not working out as planned. It seems there is a routine in place for "trying", but it has been trying and wearing them down as a couple, leading to self-doubt "Still hope you're sure. Still hope I'm worth it."

It's all a bit fuzzy - would love to see how some other people are reading in to it.

  17. this record is absolutely everything the band has been progressing to with the last two records - holy shit this was worth the wait.

I think this will end up being a lot of people's favorite PBTT record

You’re gonna make me die of hype. Still 2 months before I get my hands on this bad boy

  19. I promise I won't post much more about it - just had to do one post to get even more hype going. It's such a good sounding record too - it's so fucking vibrant and Kyle has never sounded better.

I just got a friend who is a drummer into Pianos by showing them Genevieve and his mind was blown by that slow-down at the end of the track. He immediately checked out I'll Be Damned afterwards and got so confused. He thought it was a totally different vocalist.

I can't really bring myself to listen to The Lack Long After. My aunt also passed away from Motor Neurone Disease and the way that Durfey captures it in his lyrics is so vivid and real that I can see her when I hear it. I'll Get By is probably the only song in the world that can make me cry on-demand. If I ever was to go into acting I would just need to sing that god damn song in my head to illicit tears.

We reach for the longest shadow

Wait for Love is great, but it loses a ton of steam in the back half for me. Fake Lighting might be my favorite song of theirs though.
