very frustrating that the only response to this is "buh well u had to follow regulations when u were there" and not anything about how sending 18 year olds to kill children abroad might have some kind of effect on our own country

Was at a family barbecue today and the shooting got brought up and my very conservative aunt seemed to agree with red flag laws and raising the age to buy guns to 21. Maybe we should start with those two things.

 

Red flag laws, background checks, age to purchase at 21, banning assault weapons, that’d be an actual start and I don’t think any of that has a chance at passing.

 

Mine? That was already the point of the tweet. Also pointing out the additional hypocrisy in the army implementing many of the same gun control policies we refuse to implement here isn’t a silent endorsement of giving 18 year old guns or sending them to kill people lol.

 

I’m sure this story has been posted already but listening to it is just heartbreaking. The way the shooter said “goodnight” to the teacher before shooting her, the way the child had to cover her in her friend’s blood to play dead, the way the shooter blasted sad music after killing all those kids. It’s so interesting to hear about these kinds of details but it’s horrible.

Apparently the kids also weren’t allowed to hug their parents after they were rescued and were put on a bus right away and taken to the hospital (but the parents initially weren’t told where they were going).

There’s just so many details with this and yet so much unknown. Just can’t imagine how traumatized these kids must be and how it’ll stick with them the rest of their life.

 

Yeah there’s a video of the police running kids to the bus while a crowd of parents are screaming out in horror because they can see their kids being taken away and the kids are terrified. One of the dads is being held back by the police while he’s screaming “That’s my daughter! That’s my daughter!”

I just…what the fuck.

 

I think my reign of not getting Covid has come to an end. I tested negative but I feel terrible

 

Or like how psychotic it is to go murder people in Iraq and act like it’s responsible gun ownership
