What an abusively waste of money.

 

Ya know, living is pretty unaffordable. It would be nice to wake up in the morning without worrying about money.

I am a teacher, am paid relatively well compared to other teachers in the country, and yet I still need to work summer school and now I’m thinking about delivering for instacart

 

the *only* reason I can be a teacher with two kids right now is that my spouse is paid well. If I was a single parent I’d have to work another job

 

well look on the bright side soon you’ll have to carry a gun to work every day!

So I just found out that at my kids' (5 yo & 6 yo) elementary school, when they do active shooter drills, the teachers and staff and all the adults know what the drill is and what they are actually practicing for, but they announce to the kids that there's a wild animal loose in the school as the cause for the scenario and then go from there.

I think I like this idea better than actually having kids that age practice being targets of a psychopath with an assault rifle on the regular...? I don't think I can knock a school that has a policy of actually just straight up doing active shooter drills though, even with little kids, because it's clearly been shown that it is something that we need in this country, but I just don't know if they are effective at helping kids survive that situation and they have to be pretty traumatic - especially in light of what appears to have played out in Uvalde where the cops aren't even going to help for over an hour. I thought most of the drills were designed around staying as safe as possible with the idea that the police would be coming to help you as soon as possible.

Wouldn't it be more effective to just have everyone run away as fast as they fucking can...??? I'm not making jokes either, I can't stop fucking thinking about this.
