This better be Turnover's butt rock record

 

I'm never going to read into that with Yip because he always touts a bands newest record as the best thing they've ever done.

 

Of the records he’s done, After the Party and Peripheral Vision are my two favourite, and it almost sets myself up for disappointment hearing a producer say that kind of stuff. Hope it’s all true though.

 

He’s 100% talking about Pianos and Turnover. I’m curious to see if he did the rest of the new TWY record. He produced the latest single they dropped but didn’t do the first one

 

Those and the PBTT records are up there for me. My favorite is probably mewithoutYou's [Untitled].

 

It just clicked for me that we could be getting all three of these this year and suddenly my hype is through the roof.

 

He’s got some good ones for sure. It’s just weird to dismiss others, but glad he’s hyped on his current work

 

What's wrong with him saying this? How is it weird for him to view certain work he has done in such high regard? Like, talk to any musician or painter or actor or novelist and they will tell you their favorite work they have done/what the feel is the best. I don't think that's being dismissive.

Hoping it’s a bit more of a change. Good Nature to Altogether was different, but it would be cool to see a more dramatic jump.

 

I personally want either a continuation of the Altogether sound or a surf rock record ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

I’m sure they’ll continue down the chilled out indie pop path, but I’d love for them to incorporate more dream pop or lofi elements. Would also be really down to hear Austin shoot for a few more pronounced, less subtle hooks buuuut I’m not really gonna hold my breath on that

 

Now I’m wishing for surf rock too. Feel like the last couple albums had elements suggesting they could really do that style justice. I think I remember hearing Austin saying they’re switching styles again on Jeremy Bolm’s podcast so fingers crossed.

 

I’m thinking it’s going to be more piano based/slower tempo. Beachy/surf rock would be awesome though.

 

Their vibe this go ‘round looks very Local Natives-like, wish they had someone else in the band that could sing some awesome harmonies.

 

Local Natives is one of my favorite bands of all time so I would LOVE to see this band take heavy inspiration from them.
