Rude Records is pretty decent from all accounts. They’ve picked up some of my current favorite bands the last few years in A Will Away and Sunsleeper.

Interesting though since AJ was pretty hard on being independent.

 

Sounds like the deal is very artist friendly. Distribution specifically is really hard for independent artists, so even just having a label on board to help there is very helpful

 

Sounds like they get everything they would have gotten putting it out on Molly Water in terms of ownership so I'd imagine all they lose is a % of the sales. I wonder if Rude helped fund the recording of it?

Not having to handle shipping of the vinyl/CDs is probably huge for them.

It is weird that there is mixed messaging, and thankfully they are willing to clarify and explain the situation.

Im excited for new music, and I’m excited they are excited, and the song Coming Home is pretty fantastic. I don’t care about the label sticker on it if everyone’s happy.

 

For sure. I also noticed that Rude is using pictures of just the 2 of them again. For some reason i thought the 2 newest guys were full members. But it's hard to assess.. Maybe it'll always be the 2 of them with 2 guys as hired guns for tour. Maybe how Kiss does it lol. I would like it to lock in the lineup. They did play on the album tho..Rude could have just used some older pics

Highlights from above:
- albums back to an august release, preorders should be up soon
- AJ mentioned possibly 5 singles total, so sounds like they’ll be dripping them out throughout the summer
- going back into the studio in the fall to record another album to put out next year

No one’s business in here, but i have spoken to Ben a few months back and I know for a fact they weren’t on good terms then.

Regardless, this band just keep on, and i’m super pumped for the new record.

 

Havent given them much attention since they returned. I love their first 2 albums though. Would anyone care to share their thoughts on their albums that have released since coming back? I thought this band was great but I also can't support it if Cody is involved.

 

cody isnt in the band anymore. i think the consensus around here, with which id agree, is that their post hiatus material is as good as the stuff before

 

Yeah I love everything post reunion. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Golden Record and I’m glad this band came back better than ever.

 

s/t is good but some interesting choices makes it a step down from their other material, but was absolutely necessary in order for them to knock it outside of the park with Mother Nature. They have a significant amount of momentum heading into this next album cycle, and they’re showing no down sliding whatsoever

 

The first two are still their best, IMO, but Mother Nature is right up there.

 

Golden Record and self titled are so bad I gave up on the band, but somehow Mother Nature is their best album

I first heard Golden Record so I have a soft spot for it, and I actually like A.Js grit in his voice

Catholic Girls alone saves Golden Record for me. Really love that song. I would say the first 2 albums are the ones I've returned to the most.

 

Sins is a top tier for me as well.. my thing on war paint is the sound of the album, while good, every song has the same exact tone if you will. It doesn't switch it up at all like mother nature etc
