It’s almost like they’re not posting good faith and their “takes” are about as relevant as a random ad read on a podcast.

Same, I’m done with politics, I’m done thinking this country will ever change, I’m done with all of it. I have no social media, I have no news apps on my phone, and I make no conscious effort to keep up with anything since I’ve lost trust in every media outlet, news source, and anything considered political. The NBA is all I care about…and camping off the grid in our sweet trailer

No shit, this happened in TX which is basically the Wild West and it’s going to go down as one of the biggest school shootings ever…where was the good guy with the gun?

The only Republican solution will be to throw more money at cops every time this happens and blame something else when it keeps happening.

if we need to have armed guards surrounding every child, we are not a free country.

i don't think there is a solution. there are too many guns in citizen's hands, and there's just some deep rooted sickness in the american psyche. other countries have guns but they don't have lonewolf shooters attacking schools. it's just an inherent problem in the usa, and i'm not sure it can be healed.

The good guys with guns were on the scene before the shooter entered the school. They failed to stop him.

There are some claims that they then waited outside for backup while the slaughter commenced. But there is no credible source with a factual timeline of what those initial cops did once the shooter got past them. Either way, they failed to make a difference.

correct. at most a couple politicians will hint towards introducing some sort of gun control bill that will get nowhere. it'll all just be the usual thoughts and prayers, ad infinitum, until america finally collapses.

Saying there is no solution is exactly what the gun lobbyists and gun nuts want you to think. They literally stonewall any attempt to get this country's hands around solving the gun issue in this country. We can't even get in the front door of the house of gun control because the gun lobby won't let you in.

It took one incident in Australia for them to be like nope not doing this again and they have plenty of guns available in their country currently.

I have a friend who works for Border Patrol and last night we were talking about this and he was like "it was CBP that took out the killer- the cops were useless and fucked the whole thing up. You'll see more in the news about it tomorrow, and that community is pissed." And so far, 9am here in Texas, he's been right. Unfuckingreal.

3 mass shootings in one week + my nephew’s school sending this home yesterday + everything else that has been going on has just made me feel so overwhelmed with emotions. This country is never going to change. I’m just getting more pessimistic each day. I’m fucking tired.

Yep. I got this email last night for my son’s school. The answer is “more cops” as if that did anything to prevent this in the first place.

"teachers need to carry guns and be trained how to use them"

    "banning guns will never work"

"it's a mental health crisis disguised as a gun crisis, doctors need to stop prescribing SSRIs like candy"

people sure will find any excuse to avoid actually working towards a solution

Or they say “talk to your kids about school safety and gun violence” as if it should be the kids responsibility in the first place??? I graduated high school in 2019, practically all of my time in school I had to practice school shooting drills. This isn’t normal.

All conservative figureheads simply take for granted that the guns will never be banned. That's why they say things like "The only solution is to arm teachers." They know that the guns aren't going anywhere. They know they've won, that the system is designed to prevent any action from being taken on this issue. That's the thing that always pisses me off the most about this regular ritual we go through every few weeks.

Politician: Moving forward, teachers need to be armed and well-trained marksmen.

Teacher: Okay, great, so does that mean a salary increase?

Politician: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let’s not be unreasonable here.
