That would make a lot of sense. It just came off super tacky and conceited which of what you discussed is true, is quite odd. Her reactions at the end of that fight were all time cringe. I’ve definitely soured on Rose between this fights, her comments prior to the Zhang fight and thinking her parter is a huge piece of crap. I know Carla didn’t do much either, but I was glad to see her win. She technically did more with the take down attempts and I had her slightly ahead of we are judging the fight as a whole. Round by round that fight was almost impossible to judge and nobody can be upset about the decision.

Tony was winning the fight before that kick. I can definitely see him still being a top 15 fighter, but the damage he is taking is still concerning. That was one of the most vicious knockouts I’ve ever seen.

Hard to say for Tony, but I sort of agree. He looked sharper than he did in his last couple (still looks stiffer and more hesitant than back when he fought Cowboy though). I have no doubt he could still win a lot of fights, but I just don't know if he's the type that would be satisfied competing against guys near the bottom/outside of the top 10 so that's something for him to think about.

Also, that shot was clearly a monster of a kick, but part of me still thinks Tony would have been able to eat that and recover back in the day because he was ultra-durable. Seeing him go out cold makes me a bit worried for his overall health and ability to take a shot from some of these guys. It's only going to get worse.

I like Katlyn, but yeah, Valentina is on another level than all of them. Maybe a pre-retirement Tate, and then there’s Nunes. But I look at Chevchenko the same way I do Oliveira. Figured out how to be dangerous on the feet and on the ground.

Great fight card tonight so far and I don’t expect these last two to go the distance.

    Hope Cutelaba gets crushed.

Don’t even know why Cutelaba was favored. Dude is so overrated and Spann is a beast.

I don’t typically hate on any fighter in particular, but man I love to see Cutelaba lose.

Not sure who to pick in this main event. Rakic hasn’t been too active and I haven’t seen much out of him, but I think a lot depends on how Jan is able to rebound.

Damn, that was a solid fight too. I was looking forward to more of that.

Yeah that’s absolutely bad judging, but also Holm is super boring and had to constantly clinch because she was getting lit up. Honestly glad she lost. I’m tired of seeing her in main events. That division is rather shallow and needs some new contenders.

That was the fight to make when they signed him in the first place, glad they came to their senses. Hopefully there isn't a riot this time lol.

All of this debate about the judging criteria is pretty interesting to me. I definitely feel like on some level, the scoring system needs a significant overhaul. The criteria is too vague and open for interpretation, and the 10-9 system leaves a lot to be desired (a guy can dominate two rounds then the next three can be a toss up, yet he still loses).

I honestly wasn’t shocked at the Holly/Ketlen decision, but I think if your argument for the decision is “the fans, media, fighters, coaches and commentators don’t know what they’re looking for”, it just speaks to how stupid the scoring system is. Im also just tired of Big John making himself the ultimate authority for MMA so an overhaul would be nice lol.

I honestly don't know if these events took place in states with different rules about 10-8 rounds so I could be wrong here, but I couldn't help but to laugh at Big John saying there was "no way Aljo won against Yan" despite having two rounds where he had Yan's back for nearly 4 minutes. Then Big John confidently says that AJ McKee most definitely had 10-8s against Pitbull in their rematch for nearly the same reason.

Didnt watch the Holmes fight. I think the MMA judging criteria is good, its clear in what it values, and I agree that damage should be scored the highest over control. The 10-8 criteria could be better worded but Im happy with how 10-8 rounds are usually scored, as in dominating one sided damage or nearly fight ending damage. Lying on top of someone for 4mins should not be a 10-8, Khabib smashing you there for a round is.

Most of the complaining I see about judging comes after close low output fights, with judges like Sal Damato and adalaide byrd im surprised MMA judging is as good as it is.
