That situation is so fucking bizarre. Like, it reads like Chris got the other members to sign NDAs regarding him.

    Scumbag updates:

Keep Flying (JJR's band) is going on tour with Less Than Jake and Bowling for Soup. They were also just supposed to open for Bouncing Souls but BS backed out due to COVID. Gladie (Augusta of Cayetana) was also on the bill, which is suuuper disappointing, but I'll chalk that up to not knowing.

JJR appears to also be playing with a new band called "Title Holder", featuring members of Aaron West, also engineered by the Man Overboard dude (who has been pals with him the whole time so it isn't surprising)

Harry Corrigan remains an active member of the scene in both Regulate and Parker Cannon's (TSSF) band No Pressure.

  4. I know the site has a search feature, but could anyone bring me up to speed on Brendon Urie? Apparently Panic! is releasing new music and I remember him saying some unsavory (racist?) things on Twitch, plus the one groping story that wound up being weird fanfic iirc, but I have some friends saying there have also been sexual harassment/assault allegations and I just want to know if I'm missing anything.

not really a huge get but I did hear that the man overboard reunion tour got cancelled because one (or more) members were anti-vax

Not sure why people trusted them to defend pop punk when they couldn't even defend their own bodies from covid.

Known predator & abuser Bradley Walden (of Emarosa) has changed his professional name to Bradley Scott, which conveniently doesn't bring up any allegations when googled.

Anyways he's a vocal teacher & solo artist now, so if you see the name Bradley Scott (or "BADLEY") come up, that's who that is.

I follow Wayne on Twitter, & he follows a lot of questionable people, & likes really crazy things. One of the last things he tweeted 2 years ago was at a rally in August of 2020 pleading for Gov Newsom to re-open

  11. Remember when Mixtapes wrote that song about Sandy Hook "not going down" like they said? Something about the intersection of pop-punk, politics, and mass shootings is absolutely frying my brain today.

    It's all hell.

I think that was Ryan's solo project Youth Culture?

Still one of the worst fucking lyrics, and he's a complete moron if he actually believes it.

Why isn't there more accountability in the hardcore scene? I was very excited to see the vein.fm tour, only to get bummed to see that Regulate is also going to be on it. It's the one thing I've never been able to fully understand, with how people just seem to sweep everything under the carpet particularly in that scene.

Pretty sure No Pressure is releasing new music soon too. Harry Corrigan is living a fully consequence-free life. As are the people who continue to work with him, like that pos from The Story So Far.

  15. It's been like that forever. They don't care. The promoters don't care. Festivals don't care. They're all relatively close.

There's been two more instances lately with Section H8 and Life's Question where members were outed for different things and nothing happened. Festival promoters blocked people asking them to be dropped. Bands blocked people who were calling them out.

I mean, I totally get it. People can change, and people can make amends with everything in their past, but for someone like Harry Corrigan to get off without any consequences? It makes me so mad. I want the scene to be safe, but I don't think it'll EVER be safe. Same with the pop-punk sphere, and it's something I've thought about a lot over the years.

Then again, those scenes are generally seen more of a "boy's club," and to be a female who enjoys music in those scenes? It's really tough. I'm 31 now, and it feels like there really hasn't been much change since I started going to shows when I was a teen. Each day I find myself more and more disappointed with how things are going, but that's just me. I'm not afraid to be loud about it either.

i havent been to too many shows or have much history in “the scene” but the handful of shows ive been to def wasnt the most comfortable. except tigers jaw and kind of menzingers. but like seeing the plot in you and cant swim a couple weeks ago gave me just weird vibes with the guys in the crowd. reminded me of this snl sketch lol. anyway … i hope you find some sort of camaraderie from my jumbled rambles!!!

Hardcore dudes love talking about stomping out nazis and sexual predators in the scene until its one of their buddies.

This also applies to pretty much everything else too.

Some dudes in the scene care more about protecting and play forming abusers than lifting up marginalized voices and play forming said marginalized voices (on tour, on songs, etc.) and it is really unfortunate, considering how many artists/bands there are out there who could use a lifting up over abusers.
