This was super fun. I hope Disney continues bringing back the old classics with strong creative teams cause they are 2 for 2 with this and the new Ducktales. I want Tailspin!

Pooj The Fat Honey Bear had me cracking up.

 

Oh and, my god, the absolute weirdest thing I’ve discovered about this movie coming from a Christian upbringing was that 90s Christian pop megastar Steven Curtis Chapman voiced Baloo the bear for…some reason? My wife looked it up while we were watching and I was like “…What…the fuck….”

Watched it with the kids tonight for a nostalgia blast without having seen any trailers or knowing the direction they went in and holy buckets this was legitimately really good.

 

The stinger has me very hopeful

A Darkwing Duck reboot has supposedly been in the works for a couple years now.

 

Darkwing duck appeared in duck tales I think

 

He did! The meta narrative they used to introduce him was brilliant. Same with the Rescue Rangers (and also Goof Troop). They were really about to open up the whole Disney afternoon universe with that show and then they got canceled. I’m still so bummed about that.

it's not too esoteric or anything, especially if you're familiar with a good amount of pop culture enjoyed by those who grew up in the 90s

 

Pretty sure Darkwing Duck's hat was hanging in the background of one of the early scenes in the movie.

 

I haven't watched Rescue Rangers in probably 25 years. Man, this movie really brought me back. I totally forgot how Monty would go absolutely stupid and fall under a spell whenever cheese was around.

This movie ruled and I plan on watching it again pretty soon.

Mulaney as the cynical jerk and Andy as the goofy idealist might have been the most obvious casting ever haha
