Just got back from Thunderball, which is still one of my favourites from the series. Both that film and Dr. No have definitely benefited the most from the 4K restoration as their more exotic locales are far more pleasing to the eye than the other two.

 

Well I saw You Only Live Twice last week which despite its flaws still being apparent actually managed to be the most entertaining viewing I have had of it but the real treat was finally getting to see my current favourite in the series, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service which as far cinema-going experiences go is going to be hard to top. Seeing it also made me realise something that has completely passed me by until now, Sean Connery is the only actor to portray Bond in the series to never be near or in a snowy environment.

 

Diamonds are forever is one of my favorites so I’m jealous you’ll get to see that in theaters. Just a bonkers movie.

 

I hope I will end up liking it more than I have done before but every other time I have seen it I struggle to not think about what could have been had Lazenby stayed on and had the story properly continued from where OHMSS ended.

 

go into it just expecting a crazy wacky movie and you’ll have fun

It will never happen, but i'd kill for them to make the books into an Amazon series and actually follow their plotlines. Don't think they'd commit that to the big screen unfortunately.

I'm doing a movie night every week with friends and I need to pick a James Bond movie for my night.

They aren't really into Bond, but the ones I'm thinking of are The Spy Who Loved Me, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies or Thunderball.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

 

Definitely not thunderball as I think they’d be bored. Ones that are fun/entertaining for non bond fans I’d go with diamonds are forever, live and let die, goldeneye or skyfall.

 

Id go goldeneye because of the pre established familiarity they may have with the game, and theyll recognize a young ned stark. Tomorrow Never Dies also rules.
