The thing about the whole "they are both bad people" stance is that based on everything I've read it seems like some or all of what Heard is alleged to have done to him seems to have been in self-defense. So with all the misinformation out there I really don't know if I'm comfortable subscribing to the "they're both bad" viewpoint, personally.

I wasn’t reading everything in this thread and had just assumed due to hearing they were both bad ever since this stuff began.

 

The reactions to the Depp/Heard trial are seriously gross. There are people who I really respect insisting that she is lying and it has been proven in court. I've not read much about it, but is there evidence pointing to her lying about the abuse?

This isn’t new but related to this thread, the actor who originally played the Blue Ranger quit because multiple crew members constantly bullied and harassed him for being a closeted gay man.

 

Yep. You can see several videos on YouTube where he recounts this history and it’s so damn sad to watch and listen to. That’s why he was ultimately “written out”. He wanted to quit but close out his storyline properly. Instead they wrote him out entirely by having him “fall in love” with an alien from another planet and leave to go be with her. If I remember correctly, they even used a body double to film it. He and Thuy Trang (Trini) were tight too and he was devastated after she died. Really sad stuff. There’s one video of behind the scenes footage where you can tell he and Jason David Frank definitely did not get along super well.

Yeah another reason they're all pushing the Depp propaganda, so they can keep discrediting victims of sexual assault and ultimately keep doing it.

It's kind of dicey figuring out who was involved and who wasn't. He and JDF are tight now and Yost was apparently really supportive when JDF's brother passed. It's just an entirely shitty situation. Lots of shady stuff involving that first casting change as well.

 

I have no idea how this information became available to me at such a young age (1st or 2nd grade) because I did not read magazines or watch the news, but I remember hearing and believing that the blue ranger was a gay man and for the longest time I thought the actual character was gay, not the actor. It was really disappointing when I found it it was the actor and he was bullied. Not the friends I imagined they were.

 

Yeah Haim Saban’s general treatment of the actors back then was outright abusive. The things I learned as an adult were shocking.

 

Granted this is a quote from ASJ so who knows at this point, but apparently the entire cast and crew were going to walk off and Haim started offering smaller incentives to stay. He got JDF on board by telling him he'd be the white ranger and then he convinced Amy Jo and David Yost to stay along with the rest of the crew. Just a lot of weird stuff from that time

 

Not saying that it won’t be weaponized, but Mike Cernovich is the type of shithead grifter that always had this opinion, Johnny Depp or not.

 

On a related note, I think what I've learned the most from this trial is that many times victims will learn to instigate the fight because they know a fight is inevitable and feel like they have more control if they start the fight to get the abuse over with so they're not waiting and wondering when the abuser will snap. It makes so much sense and felt like such an epiphany.

Amber has never denied hitting Johnny. I saw a "gotcha" type post on reddit that she admitted under oath she hit Johnny, like it was case closed and she was caught in a lie or something. She's always admitted she could get violent too, but ppl take the nuance out of the situation
