I just don't get Saban bitching about this. Dude you have a graveyard of full of bodies and you are going to piss the wrong person off with this whining and finger pointing that he is doing that some one is going to bring those bodies out.

Saban basically sent a warning saying if there isn’t gonna be any NIL regulation, Alabama will be prepared to go balls deep with businesses to get players at Alabama and then y’all can hate us even more.

Reminds me of him trying to get no huddle and uptempo offense canceled then when that didn’t happen he became one of them and started scoring 60 points a game.

NIL regulation is a weird thing — on the one hand, above the table bribery as the primary compensation system for college athletes is a really slimy system and I got the vibe that that’s more of what Saban is referring to and I have no doubts that TAMU is among the worst offenders — in this sense, NIL regulation is needed

On the other hand, having the other alternative be to keep the old status quo is a lot worse, and Saban/Dabo also seem to live here with a lot of their quotes and that part is a lot more problematic

 

All of college athletics has been slimy for decades. Players are finally getting a cut of it. It will always be slimy. That’s just big business. Capitalism, baby!

 

The only way to ever get the slimy out is for the NCAA or what ever governing body is in charge is to have subpoena power. Shit is always going to go under the table and not get reported until that changes.

There is also some scummy ass NIL deals out there, I think the Athletic had a piece about them. Those need to get fixed but the system is so damn piece meal that all I can say is good luck with that.
