I think it's been posted in here before, but there's been a bunch of cases of COVID recurring after a couple of weeks of you take Paxlovid. Considering Kimmel is wealthy/connected enough to get Paxlovid even if he's not technically "high risk", I would guess that's most likely what happened (same thing Colbert a couple weeks ago). Or, alternatively, as David said, just the fact that there are two subvariants going around right now that have a high degree of immune escape

 

If he tested on a PCR it’s also possible for that to show up positive for several weeks after. Most protocols don’t require any testing for 90 days after you had it. And if he is feeling fine, I wonder why he got tested again.

 

I know you can continue to test positive for a while following diagnosis, but my guess is, as a host of a late night talk show, he was probably being tested daily and at one point started to test negative again. Otherwise, he probably would not have come back in the first place. Or maybe he was continuing to test positive but reached his 10 days and came back, but something must have happened for him to go out again.

 

Finally got Covid and tested positive for it with an at-home test on Monday. Got a confirmed full test on Tuesday.

This shit absolutely sucks, the non-linear aspect of symptoms and the day to day changes of symptoms (sometimes even feels like hourly changes) is unlike any other virus I have had is what is driving me nuts. I felt decent yesterday during the day and then in the evening my temperature jumped slightly over 102°F. No fever this morning but just rocking chills, a massive headache, and some body soreness. This is day four of symptoms so I am hoping I am on the down swing of things.

Working theory is from my 21 year old nephew. He works in a grocery store and I guess some lady came in said she had Covid and was talking in his face while pulling her mask down. He was not wearing a mask himself but did get away from that lady after she declared she had Covid. My dad, my nephew, and myself spent 8 hours in a car driving to my brothers bachelor party so my dad and I think he gave it to us during that. He did not share that story about the lady in his store until after he started having symptoms....Gen Z I tell ya.
