Loved unheavenly creatures. This album seems way different but I’m digging it hard.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

This might be my favorite of the singles they've released so far.

I’m likely going to be in the minority here, but these new songs haven’t been doing much for me. I like them, I think they’re all solid or good, but The Liars Club is the only one that I’ve wanted to come back around to

Funny, I think The Liar's Club is my least favorite.

    Rise
    Shoulders
    Comatose
    Liar's

For context though, I enjoy all of these more than the worst off of TUC, which is the title track for me.

Yeah Liars Club is also my least fav. Haven’t heard the new one yet

The thing I’m excited about the most with these songs is the guitar parts. At the core, these are quick 3 minute pop songs, but we’re close to getting back to the back and forth riffing that we got during most of good Apollo.

This one's fine. Album seems to be full of pop singles. While I love me a Favor House Atlantic and some Suffering, these songs really work because of the song variety of those albums. I feel like a whole album of singles and an epic closer could get repetitive. We'll see I guess!

Ladders of Supremacy is going to be the heavy proggy one. Iron Maiden was mentioned in the latest review.

    Shoulders

Too early to rank Comatose but I definitely like it more then Shoulders. And I really love Shoulders.

Don’t want to appear ungrateful for what is essentially good music, but Coheed is a band capable of challenging themselves and if we get an album full of Favor House Atlantic’s… it’ll feel a little empty somehow

Glad they’ve been accepted by the mainstream for the most part but I didn’t want them to go full mainstream, you know?

I really don’t feel like the singles have all been AFHA-like. The Liar’s Club is the only one I would say that about. Do they all have a pretty traditional song structure? Yeah, except Rise. Are they all pretty short? Yeah, it I prefer that to every song being 5+ minutes like TUC. The songs other than Liar’s club are much more interesting instrumentally than their straight up pop offerings of the past.

the chorus in Rise is one of my favorite Coheed choruses. just such a fun and catchy song.

Rise is tight upon revisiting it this morning. Also, the last album had a lot of lengthy songs so I think I’m cool with an album of mostly shorter jams from this band

I think the main issue I had with the last album was that the songs overstayed their welcome more often than not, so I'm all for keeping these short, catchy and to the point.

I didn’t feel that way about almost every song on that album. Just about all of them were bangers

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Them doing shorter songs doesn’t mean that they aren’t complex. Some of these riffs and drum parts are just as wild as things on their longer songs. Just because it’s not a 7 minute jam doesn’t mean they aren’t challenging themselves lol

For real. I know people are praising Josh for Comatose, but his work on Rise is truly exceptional. He has such an excellent feel

like the last time I remember a bass kick like that is in the bridge of Camper Velourium I, so sick

If anything Coheed “went mainstream” during Good Apollo. Heck, The Running Free was written for a movie soundtrack and got rejected for some reason.
