I feel like people are constantly speculating that it is moving. I wouldn’t think they would move to a farm or whatever because look at what happened in Denver. I personally don’t see them moving out of Chicago unless they are force to do so. I feel like that the announcement will be something else (although I don’t know what).

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I think if Riot had to leave Chicago, that Riot Mike wouldn’t be “excited” about it… Surely it must be something else…

Theory: Maybe Riot got bought by/merged with another company. This now ensures that Riot can continue to have larger/upscale lineups with more available funds

    Give what you can.

Maybe they finally got John Stamos.

John Stamos doing a comedy set as a tribute to Bob Saget would be cool or even Stamos with The Beach Boys

311 announced their tour with a TBA mark on Riot Saturday. They have two Chicago dates in October on the tour. You think there is any chance they wait a few months and get added later? My buddy going with me is big into them and is hoping that’s the case.

I checked the site and it says TBA in Pennsylvania, they're probably still sorting out the routing.

Adams/Medill can’t handle five stages. The neighborhood would pitch a fit, too.

Jackson Park won’t ever happen with the Obama Presidential Center moving in. Neighborhood is already irked that they’re losing park space for it and there’s been this push to massively alter the park again which is not going over well.

They’re already a large promoter in the city. Just imagine Riot Fest selling to C3…

Yeah, I don’t see them selling/merging or moving out of the City.

Make it a destination fest with camping. Still an outside fest, still in Illinois, bring in bigger bands and pay a cheaper price than paying Chicago.

I’m just spitballing here. I don’t care what they do as long as they eventually get The Bloodhound Gang and Home Grown back together.

i don't like camping so no pls

  14. Yeah, I'll drive to Woodstock or wherever every day if I have to, but I don't ever want to camp at a festival again. It was fun in high school for Cornerstone Festival when my parents and the church youth group took care of all the food and logistics, but it's not something I want to deal with now.

I'm not sure moving anywhere outside of the city would be considered a "big swing." That would feel like a giant step backward, TBH. And would probably fuck with the ability for both Chicagoans and those who travel to the festival to attend.

If they were considering a shift toward camping, or even considering a change in location, I feel like they would have sent out a survey of sorts to their mailing list to gauge interest. To go from "Just book a hotel to anywhere in the city" to "BTW, you gotta buy a tent!" would be a pretty major shift that could easily backfire on them.

I love the enthusiasm and creativity people are putting forward around this. Just watch, the announcement will be like "Taco in a Bag is expanding to two stands this year! And doing artist signings!"

  16. I'll be satisfied if they just bring back the Cheesie's truck.

Or that they are getting rid of the rides to open up more space.

Same weekend as Riot. Surorised the only crossover is MCR. For $145 I would say is a good lineup!

I think that more bands will be announced, but I doubt any will be the size of Fall Out Boy (ie headliner level for Riot)

Also I think whatever this plan is, will be coming this year.

the front page of Riot has

"Get notified when we announce aftershows, daily schedules, and everything else you love bugging us about year-round. (Plus, some special events for 2022…)"

add in it's getting announced in the next few weeks and that one tweet about "more bands"

    It's not a preview party

a culmination of a couple of years work that will lead into the future of Riot.

they had a preview party last year, so that would make no sense

They could make Thursday a fourth full day, but I think they would've announced that before putting up tickets

I have a feeling we are putting way too much thought into this.. although if it's just adding stages, I'm down.. there's SO MANY bands that I'd put as middle/slighty upper tier that are touring this year that we thought were close to shoe ins and didn't make the lineup(ie Tenacious D), maybe that would explain the price hike
