the one that wouldn’t have worked was campbell as baldur. no one knows the character and only a small older percentage of the crowd is gonna know campbell

 

Well yes, I do, which Is why I said people would be wondering why Tom Cruise is playing Iron Man.

I dunno, I guess I thought you had more of a reason or reasoning for it being "better and paid off more" than "It's Tom Cruise".

 

It's been said that the Illuminati we got is the only one considered, so I'm not sure Baldur was ever really more than just a fever dream. Never heard any rumor about Campbell playing him though.

 

we had hayley atwell as captain america and latasha lynch as captain marvel. obviously they have an in-universe connection to those characters, despite not being the characters themselves. so there’s already a built in thing of the movie of “it’s the multiverse, we can have different actors as the characters we know.” i think you’re splitting hairs if you think people would question that much of why he’s iron man and not just be like “oh fuck that’s tom cruise.”

 

i believe the thing they actually said was this was the only one that was shot. i believe that. that’s different than saying it was the only one considered though. with krasinski’s schedule they would be fools to not consider other options.

When I read your post... well first, again, I thought you had more of a reason to say it would be a better payoff, so I was thinking "Why would a Tom Cruise Iron Man pay off more than introducing Reed Richards?" That's where my head was at originally.

Okay, yeah, you're right. I misunderstood. They did say "shot", and they also said this was their original dream lineup, but they did write other pages, so I guess that's where Baldur came from.

 

I just want a good fantastic four movie and John Krasinski is not what I have in mind for that.

 

Honestly, after all the "great man" jokes about A Quiet Place, now I can't imagine anyone else.

 

I thought seeing Reed Richards was way more exciting than seeing Iron Man for the millionth time. Plus I really can't stand Tom Cruise haha

I love being a “casual +” fan of these movies. Movie was fun. I have no reason to be a grump or nit-pick over any choices made in making the film or where it’s going from here. Excited for future Marvel movies and TV shows.

Reed Richards surprise was not expected and super cool. Wanda being the villain is something I had a hunch on. Olsen played it super wicked and I dug it.

 

A Tom Cruise cameo in this would’ve been wild. Wish they’d made that happen.

 

Looks like Daniel Craig was close to being Reed, at least according to Deadline’s Justin Kroll

 

Craig would have been so much better

 

Eh. I like Craig, but I don't see him as Reed.

 

Looks like spoiler nerds on Reddit are now conflicted on whether Craig was supposed to be Reed or Baldur.

 

An older Reed would have been cool to see before we get younger MCU Reed

I've said this before, but I don't much care who plays Reed (or anyone for that matter). I only care that they're A. good and B. as close to comic-accurate as possible.
