yeah I don't even mess with draft anymore. Too expensive and an 0-3 run feels super terrible. I think the key is to go two colors for this set tbh.

That said, this week's mid-week magic event is a phantom draft against bots, so maybe there's a chance for practice lol

 

ended up building a collected company deck for historic. It basically just rolls over everyone.

LMAO the first time I played against this deck I didn't realize what was happening until my opponent had created like 10 squirrels and just kept gaining life. And then I ran into it again the other day and didn't remember what it was until they dropped the Scurry Oak and I was like ah shit

 

Is everyone enjoying the new set? I'm not super into the setting but I'm having fun with an Azorius Magecraft deck and Selesnya Enchantment deck. Illuminator Virtuoso + one or two cheap spells is hilarious.

 

I usually don't play too much of the new sets until quick draft is available

 

I made it to mythic with my infinite deck. It is garbage there lol

Went 7-2 in mono white because I hate tri-colored sets. Booyah.

 

Yeah I think I'm just gonna draft with all my gold. I've absolutely not been utilizing the economy correctly. Basically every time I get 1,000 gold I buy a pack which is like, not the best practice (and also illustrates the real-life addictive nature of just buying packs).

From now on I'm gonna wait until I reach 5,000 gold and spend it on a draft. I'll draft all the rares I need and will likely end up with several duplicates of commons/uncommons. I'll save any packs I win through drafts/mastery pass until I've collected enough of the current set, then I'll open all of them right before the new set to get as many wildcards as I can for the new set.

It should be very easy to to at least one draft a week (you get minimum 500 gold a day from daily quests so that already gets you to 3500 easy). Eventually I hope to get good enough at drafting this set to break even each time.

 

I basically never spend gold until there's a sale on a card style for a card I use a lot, at 28k atm

 

I'm 100% F2P so gold is the only resource l resource I ever have, I don't think I've ever purchased gems

 

every once in a while the shop will have a daily deal where you can purchase gold or gems with your gold or gems for a reduced price. for example you can buy 500 gold for 400 gold and net 100 gold. today they have a deal on gems, I think it's spend 500 to get 600 so you net 100.

I pretty much never have gems since that usually requires spending actual money but I went 4-2 in a quick draft yesterday and won some. Right when I think I've got a handle on drafting the new set, they change the quick draft to Strixhaven for two weeks lol. I forgot they rotate sets for that

 

just went against two back-to-back Splendid Reclamation decks, what a dumb fucking card. I hate mill decks so much, you just don't get to play the game.

 

yeah I'm glad I wasn't playing when UB Rogues was a thing in Standard

Just went 7-0 in an SNC draft for the first time ever. Drafted UW with the tiniest black splash (one swamp). Pulled an All-Seeing Arbiter and drew it probably 5/7 of the matches. What a damn bomb.

 

lmao then I promptly went 0-3 in another draft.

After doing 7 drafts in the past week, I think I'm probably good with drafting SNC. White is CLEARLY the best color, and going UW or WG respectively are your best options. Red is definitely the worst color and needs a strong pairing (usually black). Don't go 3 colors unless you're splashing literally one land you can fetch with the common shard fetchlands. And absolutely load up on 2 drops.

 

I tried Esper and promptly went 0-3.
