I definitely don’t hate this, a big step up from Everything Now. But idk, it’s not doing anything to convince me this band is necessary in 2022. Which sounds like a stupid thing to say, but this band used to feel urgent and powerful and at least personally I just don’t even feel that from their older stuff anymore. Maybe I’m just getting old.

I think Rebellion and Power Out might be better songs than Wake Up but given the live show factor every list should have it #1.

I mean I don’t think “Wake Up” is their best song personally. I think it’s arguably one of the 5 most essential indie rock songs of the last 25 years but I have a handful of AF songs I prefer to it. Some of that might be because I’ve heard the song a billion times, probably a little fatigue, maybe if I heard it with fresh ears it would be undeniable.

But “Afterlife”, “The Suburbs” and “Tunnels” I definitely prefer. The “I want a daughter while I’m still young, I want to hold her hand” line will never not be the absolute best thing Win has ever written.

  5. Supersymmetry is up there with the best songs they've written in the last 12 years and it's my favourite thing on Reflektor by miles

I revisited Reflektor yesterday. I think the only outright BAD song is “Flashbulb Eyes”. Totally unnecessary. The pacing of the record is probably my least favorite part. I think the back half has a lot of 6 minute songs that kind of do the same thing though I think they’re some of the best songs on the record when taken in alone. But I also don’t know how much resequencing would help. This would be my Reflektor, I think it’s a way better record:

    1. Reflektor
    2. We Exist
    3. Here Comes the Night Time
    4. Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice)
    5. It’s Never Over (Hey Orpheus)
    6. Normal Person
    7. Porno
    8. Afterlife
    9. Supersymmetry

Even simply scrapping You Already Know and Joan of Arc from the heart of that album is a huge upgrade.

It’s like here’s “Normal Person”, a pretty solid AF rocker built around a cool lick, and then here are two lesser versions of that song…all in a row.

The "Normal Person" riff is good, but it's such a stupid song lyrically.

I like normal person but man the first time I heard it live on that SNL show thing they did before the album was out floored me with how heavy it was

but yeah the lyrics suck shit

Just finished my first listen to this.... granted I am working, but I had headphones in, and it was at a reasonable volume. The first 5 tracks plodded along and blended together so much that I thought it was one long intro song until I looked down at my Spotify to realize I was already on track 5.

Honestly just don't think this band does it at all for me anymore. It's been since The Suburbs since I've truly enjoyed anything rather than just trying to convince myself it's good. But glad there are some that seem to be enjoying it!

no way. One of my favorite tracks by them for both the rock & the lyrics. Fuck the concept of a normal person.

The opener and closer have both grown on me immensely.

I’m out on Rabbit Hole though. First half is such a slog.

Just paid $92 US for 300-level Toronto tix :/ pretty sure that’s what I paid for floor on on the EN tour.

JK it was closer to $60 to be on the floor in 2017, lmao

Yikes on those prices. First day of presale in Camden and pit never sold out. This isn’t going to sell well in the states. Canada is a different beast I think.

Hoping they have more planned for the show than their inflatable dancing guy gimmick. That won’t have the same impact in a huge space.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

I trust that they are going to do the stage show justice. Reflektor tour setup and the Everything Now in-the-round boxing ring were both very cool.

As I said on other page, just wait to buy for these shows. You'll get great seats cheap the week of.

Reflektor your was probably the best arena show I’ve seen. So hopeful for something at that level. Like 50 inflatable dudes throughout the venue.

coming from someone who considers Funeral, Neon Bible, and The Suburbs to be borderline masterpieces, this album isn't that good and is incredibly boring.

Reflektor tour was so insanely good. Reflektor is a lowkey amazing live album. Even the low tier Reflektor songs slap live somehow.

Strongest agree. Afterlife, Here Comes The Night Time and Reflektor go incredibly hard every time.
