John Simmons on New Podcast

I miss them so much.

 

Really shitty news about the drummer. I was wondering why he wasn't on their final shows. I'm glad Jon was able to get that off his chest though. I won't get my hopes up but it sounds like he still has faith in the band and could foresee a reunion at some point.

While I’m not too big on Light We Made, The Things We Think We’re Missing is a record I hold very close to the chest. Miss these guys..

 

yeah, I got turned off for a while and thought he's talking all the bad experiences on TTWTWM and I was bummed out, but it turned out to be about the last record, which I really enjoy as well, but I could see all of that in the background - sounded way more shitty than I had expected, but it's cool he was open about it for the first time. Quite a surprise as for the format of the podcast, which is mostly about the history of Vagrant.

 

I never got into this band but I went to college with their guitarist’s wife (girlfriend at the time).

 

What did the drummer do? Haven't listened to the podcast, so forgive me. Just curious cause it'll probably be awhile until I have a drive to listen to this.

 

Got a temper and pressured the band to follow his ideas on changing up their sound, wouldn't see any compromise... aaand also, stole some money huhh.

No, they seemed to all enjoy the new direction - there's no details - but Jon likes that album (mentions that the bonus EP "Slow Heart" is more of his child sound-wise), but it seems to have gone too far with the drummer being weird or impertinent, probably making the process somehow tainted for everybody involved.
