Yeah, that's where my head is at too! That Eve 6 "bit" was too much for it to not be hinting at something.

I don't think they'll actually release it at the show but Tuesday = day before Wednesday.

Part of me is worried that #4 will happen to me this year. And then I'll get stuck at #5 haha.

Not sure about tour dates or anything but most of this line-up would work at Riot Fest. And I would be surprised if Pity Sex weren't on the line-up, TBH. That's a perfect early day reunion that would be a solid draw for them.

From this list, I'd personally love to see: Angel Du$t, Anxious, Drug Church, Koyo, Military Gun, No Pressure, One Step Closer, Praise, Scowl, and Soul Blind.

There's a lot to love on this line-up!

Drug Church, Fiddlehead, Pity Sex, Angel Du$t, and Scowl would all be a dream.

This is the final Gulch show ever so they couldn’t do riot even if they wanted to. Unfortunately I don’t see Riot Fest booking many hardcore bands this year or in the future (unless it’s someone really old like the Cro Mags or really popular like Knocked Loose)

I would like every band from sound and fury to play on the small stage throughout the weekend

If you google search when the lineups for Riot get dropped, it's almost always on a Wednesday.. so good call

there are no major shows in Chicago between May 11-18 that I could see halting the Riot lineup, my monopoly money is on May 11

they can't announce Taking Back Sunday yet, but can always just add them after the 3EB show at Tinley

but if it ends up being May 18 or 25 I wouldn't be shocked (here's the best news May 25 is the last Wednesday of the month so I can guarantee with 1000% it won't be later than that)

I would love to see Drug Church at RF this year. Their new album’s pretty great.

I can't find anything to rule them out, so I'd say very possible

Breakdown of line-up release dates/day of the week by year since 2012.

    2012:
    Thursday, May 17th
    2013: Wednesday, May 15th
    2014: Tuesday, May 13th
    2015: Wednesday, May 27th
    2016: Wednesday, May 18th
    2017: Wednesday, April 19th
    2018: Wednesday, May 30th
    2019: Thursday, May 29th
    2021: Friday, May 14th

Barring some sort of unforeseen delay or cancellation, I'm really banking on Wednesday.

(And no, I don't think the Eve 6 show is delaying it. Hah. I just think the timing worked out.)

Drug Church doesn't seem like an outdoor festival band, but maybe (hopefully) I'm wrong

They are playing with MCR the date before and the date after Riot, so its a possibility!
I can see them coming back if they do a Full Collapse set for their 21st anniversary, and a mainstage with MCR, TBS and Thursday back to back would be amazing!

It kind of drives me insane how Reddit doesn’t seem to understand how big of a deal Op Ivy would be for Riot Fest. I’m sure they have been asking them for at least a decade and it is the last huge Punk reunion that has never happened but seems even remotely possible.

Reminds me in 2019 when some bozo was like, "WHO is Bikini Kill and WHY are they billed above Neck Deep?! Feels disrespectful!" and I died a little inside.

This is where we need to remind ourselves that Riot has crossover with the "LOL I just love live music" crowd. So there's people in those threads without the full context for the festival and/or a certain percentage of the artists booked.

It's like those dudes who still whine that Lolla does't book Fishbone and Soundgarden every year... But the reverse.

Given the timing (Tuesday) and the impending Riot line-up announce... I'd say this is happening and is looking incredibly likely. This would be a low-key amazing get for Riot on multiple levels. Especially if it's a relatively exclusive performance.

  19. Thursday / Saetia aftershow at Cobra Lounge, please.

TBS will probably end up playing, but they can't be announced until after the 3EB show in July (I'm safely assuming amphitheaters, arenas and maybe even some clubs have basic industry contracts that you can't be listed on a festival in the same market if it's not sold out)

I think that's the main reason TBS were added last minute in 2018

and I don't think there will be a second wave, if they play.. I think when the schedule comes out.. they'll get added

One band that’s technically out bc of the 90/90 rule but who I hope they make an exception for is Driveways. One of the best new pop punk bands from the last few years and they NEVER tour or play shows outside of New England. They’re finally doing a small tour in July and are hitting Chicago but I think they’re both small enough and rare enough that their July show won’t hurt RF’s sales if they played both. They’d make a great early-in-the-day band and could headline the pizza party.

From everything I've read, there's not really any 90/90 rule in Illinois (I took one business law class in college and I live in Louisiana which basically means I have no fucking clue).. I know Coachella tried to do a 200+ mile radius in their contracts and it went to court and wasn't upheld.. like I said in my post above, I think it's just basic industry contracts that venues have

I think AV Club has a huge article on this, particularly on Chicago
