Which can't be done without abolishing the filibuster. Which can't be done without figuring out a way to get Manchin and Sinema to support doing it.

  3. Off the top of my head, replacing them or expanding your majority seem like a much more viable plan. Making "will expand court/remove the filibuster" a litmus test for any Dem running and wanting money/vote seems like a better plan than trying to force Manchin and Sinema to "get in line." I can actually think of a few dozen things related to organizing on a local level, and what an admin could do that would be helpful too. (Promise to put doctors on federal land in states that will perform abortions.)

I mean, if you don't see the obvious of what it would do, I don't see reason for me to lay out the other reasons explaining it in more detail, your mind is made up.

I just don’t see how any of us are supposed to come up with the answers of what should or can be done tbh. Like most of us have been spending all our lives voting for the people they tell us to vote for and supporting causes we’re supposed to support and yet here we are

I wish that more people realized "vote for candidates to expand the majority" is what politicans say precisely because it is the easiest possible thing to do and a massive swarth of citizens don't do it. It's level one of local organizing. You literally do it briefly once or twice a year.

From a Congressional standpoint? Biden needs to flood the zone with executive orders. He needs to make a bunch of courts knock down his arguments.

Ah ok, everything you've said makes sense now after this post lol. Good luck making any of that happen before we've completed the slide into authoritarianism. We need something to be done before the next Congress is sworn in, not decades from now, if ever.

I mean, just based on this, assuming she’s not just a lying shit, which she is, isn’t the next obvious question whether she’s prepared to back legislative protections?

adoption can also be super expensive and a long drawn out process. My cousin adopted and it was a 3 year process and they spent thousands and thousands of dollars.

If men could get pregnant there would be free on call at home abortions in every state. The issue should correctly be framed as one of oppression against women. Restricting choice in pregnancy is oppression full stop.

Yeah I don't have much experience in private adoptions but that's what I've heard. Adoption through the welfare system is "cheaper" but comes with its own host of problems and can also take years and failed attempts and heartbreak. Often we'll get ppl who couldn't afford or find success in private adoptions and so they come to the welfare system with the mindset that it'll be cheaper to adopt from there, but it's a whole other ballgame since it's the most vulnerable population, who are always hit hardest from laws like these.

While I obviously agree with the sentiment that this is oppression, people who identify as cis women aren't the only people who can get pregnant. Many trans men, for example, are also harmed by this decision.

How do they not have some sort of mental capacity test? It’s insane there are 88 years that don’t know their name that are in charge of 40 million people.
