  1. Even if you want to be a total cynic about MLB's motives (which is fine) the league deciding "huh might be bad for business to have a rapist on the field, much less on our most popular franchise!" is a good thing!

i'm going to say i don't think that's their point, but it certainly is a weird point to make.
the guys a shitty person. of course he has left bad tastes in peoples mouths.
not sure why that means they are solely being vindictive here.

but also, i couldnt care less if that was the case haha

Well Miguel Cabrera was just celebrated for getting 3,000 hits a week or so ago. Baseball has a history of letting what’s going on off the field remain separate from what’s going on “on the field”. Also, there was a DUI too? Did he get games? I actually don’t remember. He did get games for his participation in a fight on the field.

I really don’t the MLB trying to act moral. They allowed cheaters to get off and profit. I want the criminal system to punish the abusers, rapists, etc. We’ve seen how pro leagues can mismanage punishment.

No, he had a domestic violence incident with his wife. I said, also, a DUI. The fact that people didn’t know that about Cabrera kind of shows how quickly this stuff can go away.

Really? You want me banned for what? Violating what?

No one is saying “way to go Trevor”. Pointing out that the MLB Commissioner could have personal vendetta against Bauer doesn’t seem like a stretch.

  17. I will admit that while I knew Miggy had undergone treatment for alcohol addiction I forgot/never knew that there was a dv incident too. also not great and shouldn't be trivialized! still not the same as unapologetic rapist!

The joint domestic violence policy, agreed to by both league and union, exists in part because the courts do not do a good job w/r/t intimate partner violence!

  21. here's my last point then I'm logging off: baseball is SO BAD at holding players accountable for doing bad things. I think the rare instance where the punishment even approaches (I'd want a lifetime ban ideally) fitting the infraction is a good thing, not an opportunity to speculate about motives or play "what about." they did the right thing this time and I could give a fuck if it's for the ""wrong"" reasons or not

Do the rangers wear those powder blue unis at home? Braves are in Arlington tonight and I absolutely love those.

My issue is with how pro leagues handle “moral” suspensions. I have no investment or concern for Bauer and his MLB future. I don’t think anyone is gonna defend him as a person per say.

Well before our time, but the debate over Pete Rose lifetime suspension rages on in older baseball circles. His gambling on games while coaching vs other players in the Hall of Fame with other massive moral incidents.
