Same. There are a handful of shows on dime but I'm surprised there aren't more.

Linking to my favorite bootleg in case anyone hasn't heard it. It's from their last show before the 2020 tour was cancelled. The sound is great and it has early Dried Roses, Happiness, "cell phone", and the only recording of Bruiser.

Ending of last night's show. After a show or two standing, it looks like she was seated the whole time again. So probably more nights of chill sets to follow

Not surprising as they continue to become more popular but I've seen a number of comments on reddit from people that are upset the live show isn't more polished, they don't play a specific song, they don't know how to be popular, etc. Kinda bums me out

 

I love how they’re doing their own unique thing, I think I just had to get used to changing my own expectations. It’s a very visceral experience when it works and kind of awkward when it doesn’t.

But yeah screaming in Sparrow was one of the times it really worked, tho not as intense as that clip.

The more I listen to this album the more I'm enthralled by it. Absolutely an instant classic in my eyes.

 

She just posted a message on her story about expectations at Big Thief shows. Basically touching on the complaints that @MrAirplane had mentioned people were voicing on Reddit

Perfectly said. There’s a reason this band can feel so magical in the little moments.

North American tour ended last night with an outdoor show under a total lunar eclipse. Sounds magical

 

I wonder what’s next for them. Another tour planned or laying low for a bit and announcing another album? Whatever they do I can’t wait!

 

They have two other tours scheduled in Europe (June 5-July 4) and AUS/NZ (Nov 21-Dec 4). Max said there will be a show in Israel the first week of July which hasn't been announced yet so maybe more shows around that time/region.

I'm guessing they'll just be laying low between tours (maybe record solo albums?) and slight chance they'll release Happiness over the summer. Assuming they release another album from the Dragon sessions, I'm hoping we get it later this year but I feel like it may be early 2023.


edit- also Max and Phil Weinrobe are working on an ambient album, guessing that will come out this year

edit 2- also this past summer and winter, Adrianne and James spent some time at Panoramic Studio making something with Luke Temple. Might also see whatever that was sometime this year

 

Thanks for the reminder that I needed to buy tickets.
