So pumped to have Young Pilgrim on streaming services. Gonna be listening to it all weekend.

 

At the 10 year anniversary show now!

 

How was it?

 

Great! Good to see him live again. My first show in a while. He finished with Riverbanks which was the main song I was hoping he'd play and it was so good.

 

Did you see Jamie Lenman?

 

yeah he was fun. I remember seeing his band ages ago with Fightstar.

 

Yeah I never got to see Reuben. Miss that band.

 

I can dig the new song. It looks like he's moving away from acoustic based songs and way more pop, but that's been hinted at since I See You, so I'm cool with it.

 

Gutted it's only 10 songs, ha. Haven't had a chance to hear the new song yet but love the first three.

Yeah I love the new song too, haha.

 

Already having heard 4/10 songs is kind of bummer since there's still a year until release, but I do love what we've heard so far so I'm excited to hear the other six!

Holy shit this is so embarrassing that I can't even bring myself to delete my comment. Just going to leave it so I can come back and bring myself down a peg the next time I'm feeling overly confident about something.

For some reason my brain was like, "yeah with vinyl delays a year out makes sense..."

 

I am very glad it's not a year out. March is going to be the month of the Charli(e)'s.

The bridge in “Twice” makes me so happy. When he decides to write one, he generally nails it.

This will be it for me in regards to listening to the pre-release singles, though. It’s going to be tough but no way am I hearing 5-6 tracks before this drops.

After being delayed, this is out today. Anyone listening?

EDIT: Just finished my first listen. Kind of bummed. It's all in that same pop vein, and not a lot to differentiate one song to the next. Kind of sounds like a collection of 10 pop songs that were all released as singles over the course of two years.

 

i plan on getting my hands on the audio this weekend.
still debating on whether to bite the bullet and pick up a vinyl copy.
is there a way to download the demos that are on the patreon? i might sign up for a month or so just for the tracks.

 

Are you referring to the “access my entire demo archive” in the lions tier? If so, don’t even bother. This was the biggest reason why I signed up for his Patreon and without exaggeration, he released three demos.

Really enjoyed the record after one listen. I’m glad I stopped listening to the pre-release tracks after “Twice” because it still feels relatively new and fresh. “All The Best” is a great opener. Love when he goes full on pop mode in “Good To Love. The only track I’m indifferent on right now is “Anything For Love”. It tries to be a heavy hitter lyrically but kind of fell flat - I might warm to it with more listens.

In saying all that, I really feel like it’s time for some Fightstar next. Fuck I miss them.

i've seen several clips on fb of him playin fightstar songs and covers too. if i could download/rip the audio, it would be worth a month or two sub.

 

New album is growing on me. Sliding Doors is so pretty. The way he sings "they were my sliding doors" is very folklore era TSwift like.

 

That one's definitely a stand out for me too, I really love it. Flatline has grown on me a lot too. Honestly the only song I don't love is “Anything For Love” and even that's solid.
