You think he’d only need about 2 weeks of throwing before being able to return?

I think its possible. A week of bullpens, then maybe 2 minor league starts? so maybe closer to 2-3 weeks of throwing.

regardless of when he returns we're not seeing him go more than 4-5 innings maxxx until probably after the ASG

Yeah, I'd think he'd need around a month or so to get his velocity and then pitch count up. The June 1 date I thought was assuming he could start throwing on May 1. I do wish they'd only give him a couple of rehab starts to make sure his arm doesn't fall off before letting him pitch with the MLB team. Like, even if he can only go 3 innings at first, it's still much more valuable for him to it here than to have him dominate the poor Palm Beach Cardinals again until he's good for 100 pitches

i mean dont get me wrong, if they can keep up the play they've been at, i have no issue with them holding him until july. its so much better that theyre not in a position where they need to rush him back to get their heads above water. if we didnt see him until after the ASB i'd be bummed but i would ultimately be OK with it.

Man, they literally will make a Wordle clone outta anything, impressive if I have to be honest. That’s one malleable game concept.

I truly don’t think what the Yankees did was a big deal because like Passan said I do believe all the other teams were doing something similar too, yes Houston went a little extreme with it. Just find it funny how guys like Sabathia and Cashman continue to whine about the Astros in 2017 when they know the Yankees were “cheating” too.

i think its equally facile to pretend there is some great chasm between what Houston did and the rest of the league.

I mean the order of operations is significantly different. Relaying signs to the runner on base necessitates a runner on base. Houston was relaying signs directly to the hitter from the dugout

If you believe that’s not meaningfully different, that’s fine, but it is an outlier compared to baseball history. All the way down to little league do runners on second try to relay signs. But relaying right to the hitter with the bases empty is novel.

so yeah maybe not a “great chasm” of difference but for me it is meaningfully different
