God I am so excited for tonight, especially since I haven’t seen them since pre-pandemic

Okay now I see first hand what Adrianne was talking about re: people talking during the opener. Just because the opener is instrumental/experimental music and there’s no singing doesn’t mean that people can just talk through the set. You wouldn’t go to the opera and talk through a classical music set would you?

They closed with Red Moon and then she sang all of Simulation Swarm over Red Moon. she sang way too fast and kept cracking up. It was bizarre and I loved it and took a video.

It was very bizarre but in the best way haha. I loved it as well. The entire show was great even though it was more chill than a normal Big Thief show.

I did really enjoy a more stripped down set, including some absolutely beautiful renditions of Blue Lightning, Red Moon, and a killer Sparrow. But it makes me want to see the opposite of this show with a focus on the louder stuff, and then a combo show with both.

I totally see how this band is going to have a dedicated following like the Grateful Dead, they were really trying stuff up there more than any other band I’ve seen.

never heard Once a Buncha Times before but I loved it and might have to get into the unreleased songs rabbit hole. Cactus Practice was also really good.

I tried not to talk, but the opener was just not compelling to me at all. Counted down the minutes.

Big Thief was great. I had a pretty bad spot and couldn't see much of anything, but they sounded amazing. Loved Cactus Practice and the one with lyrics about drinking a margarita and giving peace a chance.

I thought the opener was interesting but I did find it a little strange they never interacted with the crowd until the very end when leaving the stage. Maybe that’s just part of their whole shtick though. I do think a band opening would have been more suitable and made the audiences more attentive. I really liked the last US tour pre-pandemic when Palehound opened.

The opener had my attention for about 20 minutes and then lost me.

I’m still deeply troubled by Big Thief coming with Twain opening roughly 3 weeks before I cared about either band

I think openers that don't match the general vibe/volume of the headliner are not often well received. The 2020 tour had Ithaca and there were definitely complaints that they were too loud

Possible promo shoot for the next album? Same photographer as last time (Alexa Viscius) and this was posted by their press guy (Jacob Daneman)

I think they just took some photos with Alexa because she lives in Chicago and they were here last night; an impromptu photo shoot is what I am assuming.

That Chicago set list is great. Would love to hear that tape of “Wake Me Up to Drive”, “Little Things” and all the new stuff. Gotta feel like a new record is coming before the end of the year but who knows, I’d imagine they wouldn’t announce anything for awhile.

  21. they just released a 20 song album two months ago and we're already speculating on the next one?

They're playing like six new songs a night so I get it

I mean Big Thief isn’t exactly shying away from sharing that they had 45 songs down for these sessions and that they could see the light of day sooner rather than later.

not to mention UFOF/Two Hands. They’re incredibly prolific.

Yeah I think they're kind of hinting that more is to come soon with playing lots of brand new stuff on tour and also the fact they had a bunch more songs written during the Dragon sessions, so I understand people talking about the next record.
