I listen to NCTH as a nice little 5 song EP that ends with Cigarettes & Saints and I’m very happy with it that way.

Cigarettes & Saints should close every set they play imo. Just like Came Out Swinging should open every set they play.

  3. I like the title track on NCTH. nice contrast to the big bombastic one they did on the previous record. very good lyrics too

Came Out Swinging was such a perfect song to begin the band post GSOI!

All this Wonder Years news has me revisiting their discography this week. Sisters Cities' production isn't as bad as I remembered, except maybe when the band gets noisy as shit like at the end of It Must Get Lonely. What a huge ending to a song, goddamn.

The Upsides is my favorite and I’ll admit it’s 99% nostalgia. When it was released, it was a very important album for me in a very low part of my life. Seeing it played in full recently was better than words can describe.

  7. The Upsides literally saved my life and I think it's their weakest record, mad how that works

The first time I listened to TGG I cried super hard. It came out like a month before I graduated high school and there was a lot of turmoil with some friends/general "oh shit I'm 18 life is changing" vibes. I still think its a great record with some of their best songs, but it doesn't appeal to me as much outside of that ten years on. I can almost more strongly relate to the nostalgia of Suburbia nowadays moreso than I can reminisce on my own to TGG. I know that probably makes no sense

I also think I've changed a bit and just typically kinda prefer the songwriting of NCTH/SC to the older stuff. But I do love listening to everything. I don't really like anything pre-Suburbia

TGG is 10 years old next year. Bonkers how much essential emo/pop punk records came out that year

We reach for the longest shadow

I know that was 2013, but 2011, when Suburbia came out, was a life-changing year of music for me.

TWY, Fireworks, Transit, TSSF, B&C, La Dispute, The Dangerous Summer, PBTT, Touche Amore, Defeater, AL4W, Polar Bear Club, and The Swellers, and that's just bands in that "scene".

Seriously an insane year, I don't think I will ever love as many records as much as I loved all those in the same year

Unsure of your age but I'm about to turn 32 and I feel the same way about 2006. Massive year for the scene, probably the pinnacle of mainstream success for that era of pop punk/emo. So many classics - Rise Against, Thursday, MCR, Saosin, I'd argue the best Anti-Flag, I'd go into bat for Louder Now too.

28 so missed that boat slightly at the time haha but yeah 2006 also had Larry arms - oh Calcutta + the loved ones which also are huge for me

Wondering if they will drop Upsides/Suburbia songs moving forward. I honestly feel they could at this point and still have a strong set. Feel like those tunes got a proper send off.

Yep I couldn't remember a whole bunch but Oh Calcutta is fantastic, especially Are You There Margaret? And at the time there was another record from that year that I loved better than all the others (most of us did I think) but i won't promote that one for obvious reasons

Washington Square Park is one of those songs that just needs to be in the set.

  24. They're never dropping Came Out Swinging and I don't see why they would. I mean they COULD and still have an amazing set from TGG onwards but nah

Yeah they have to keep WSP and Came Out Swinging in every set. I get so bummed when they don't play WSP
